Indar history

INDAR was established in 1940 under the name “Construcciones electromecánicas INDAR”. Its main activity consisted on the manufacture of small generators.

The growth of the company in the late 1940s and 50s was spectacular and at that time INDAR started to manufacture submersible electro-pumps for clean and dirty water.

Further, in the 60s, it became one of the most important companies in the Goierri Valley, with a workforce of 400 employees. At the end of the 80s, the company was not unscathed by the economic crisis that hit industry in the Basque Country, which led it in a difficult financial situation at the end of the 90s.

In 1997, Ingelectric-Team, S.A., head of what Ingeteam Corporation is today, took over INDAR with the commitment to keep on the whole of its staff.

When INDAR joined the group, it adopted Ingeteam’s work culture, boosting significantly its technical R&D departments and taking advantage of the experience and knowledge acquired over more than sixty years. In 2001, INDAR moved to the current state-of-the-art facilities in Beasain.a

In January, 2008, a fire broke out causing serious material damage at the company. However, faithful to its teamwork culture, it recovered 75% of the plant’s activity in just three days and virtually 100% within a few weeks. That year INDAR produced over 2,000 wind generators and a turnover figure record was achieved, 210 million euros. One year later, INDAR opened a new wind generator production plant and a unique combined laboratory of high-power rotating electrical machines and power electronics.

In 2015, coinciding with its 75th Anniversary, INDAR was elected the best company in Gipuzkoa by the Gipuzkoa Chamber of Commerce
