Challenges such as sustainable development, technological innovation, decarbonisation and competitiveness were some of the challenges addressed at World Maritime Week, held at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre last week.
At this edition, Ingeteam received the Sinaval Award, in recognition of the company's commitment to R&D and its ability to revolutionise electric propulsion, reducing emissions and improving energy efficiency. When collecting the award, Mario de Vicente, Commercial Director at D&A, wanted to highlight “our commitment to sustainability”.
To date, Ingeteam has produced and installed more than 1,600 frequency converters and 7,000 motors and generators, as well as equipping 960 vessels worldwide with state-of-the-art technology. Ingedrive frequency converters are essential for the operational efficiency of electric propulsion systems, enabling precise control and energy optimisation that contributes to the reduction of pollutant emissions. At the same time, Indar electric motors and generators improve energy efficiency and significantly reduce pollutant emissions, noise and vibration.
The shipping sector is under increasing pressure to adopt more sustainable practices and reduce both its carbon footprint and its overall pollution level. The industry is undergoing a transformation driven by three factors:
- stricter regulations
- consumer demand for greener transport
- need for technological innovation to minimise environmental impactIn this context,
Ingeteam is playing a crucial role in the transition towards a more sustainable marine sector by developing solutions that reduce polluting emissions and improve energy efficiency in maritime transport. Not only are we part of this change, but we are also driving an essential transformation for the reduction of the environmental footprint in the shipbuilding industry.
