What Are the Most Common Places to Install an Electric Car Charger?

The locations where charging stations are most frequently installed are shopping centres and petrol stations

The choice of charging rate depends on how long the vehicle will be parked

Our team of professionals implements all kinds of new technologies to develop the best charging devices. We recently published a post about SiC technology, which is present in our 4 stations capable of reaching 400 kW each, located in Abanto-Zierbena (Bizkaia). These chargers are currently the most powerful in Europe. Read our post for more details.

The most common locations where we can find electric car chargers are the following:

  • Petrol Stations.
  • Shopping centres, industrial estates, restaurants, squares, car parks, and places with a large influx of people and/or vehicles, in general.
  • Homes.

Which Charging Mode is Most Suitable for Each Location?

In petrol stations, usually there are fast charging stations, since the user has a short stay in this type of location.

Generally, in shopping centres, slower charging stations are usually installed, as the electric vehicle remains parked for a longer time, so there is no need for such a fast charge.

The criterion to decide which charging mode is the most suitable is the time required to charge the vehicle.

As for choosing a charger depending on whether the road is public or private, the main condition is, again, how it will be used. That is to say, while it is common to find faster chargers in public areas and slower chargers in private areas, there may be exceptions. Thus, for example, in a private establishment such as a car rental company, the most appropriate choice would be a fast charger, given the need for a fast electric vehicle charge.
