Ingeteam PV inverters for the 2014 Football World Cup stadiums

Brazil, in its preparations as host to the 2014 Football World Cup, has selected Ingeteam inverters for the PV systems installed at its main stadiums. The Confederations Cup, set to start this Saturday, will mark the launch of these PV systems, given the fact that three of the six stadiums hosting this tournament have been equipped with INGECON® SUN inverters.

Specifically, these are the Maracaná and Mineirao stadiums. The Maracaná stadium in Rio de Janeiro, with a capacity for 88,639 spectators, is the largest in South America and one of the largest in the world. There are 20 INGECON SUN 18TL inverters installed at these grounds, to give a total rated power output of 360 kW. The Arena Pernambuco, with 46,154 seats and located in Recife, has an installed power output of 1 MW, with five INGECON SUN 10 and one INGECON SUN 840TL M360 Indoor inverter from the PowerMax family. Whilst the Mineirao stadium, with a capacity for 62,547 persons and located in the state of Belo Horizonte, has a grid-connected 1.5 MW system equipped with 88 INGECON SUN 15TL inverters.

The 2013 Confederations Cup, set to commence on the 15th June with the Brazil-Japan match, is a tournament between the champions from each continent, the World Champion and the organising country. On the 30th of June, the final is to be played in one of the stadiums equipped with INGECON SUN inverters: the mythical Maracaná stadium.

To date, Ingeteam has supplied more than 3 GWp to its customers, confirming its position as one of the world's leading inverter manufacturers.
