The Spanish technological company has manufactured a new rectifier for large-scale green hydrogen production plants since October, the INGECON H2 E-lyzer. As an industry pioneer, it has supplied equipment to the world's leading electrolyser manufacturers for their initial projects. Ingeteam strengthens its leadership in the renewable hydrogen sector. In addition to the projects already commissioned in the last year and a half, it has a portfolio of over 400 MW of awarded projects to be delivered in 2024. The projects are distributed all over the world, in destinations such as Australia, Canada, the United States, Germany, Spain and other European countries. Ingeteam currently has rectifiers feeding different PEM and alkaline electrolysers in plants in Spain, Belgium and the United States, generating renewable hydrogen for different applications. Two more projects will be supplied in Spain and the United States in the first half of 2024. A new milestone will be achieved this year, with the supply of a 160 MW electrolysis project, the largest that Ingeteam has embarked upon in the sector to date. Renewable hydrogen currently enjoys good growth prospects, due to a very mature and stable hydrogen consumption market for different applications (refineries, fertiliser production, etc.), which have no decarbonisation alternatives other than using renewable hydrogen. In response to the growing demand, Ingeteam launched a new rectifier in October 2023, the INGECON H2 E-lyzer, aimed at large-scale green hydrogen production plants. The rectifier is based on IGBT technology and has the highest current density on the market. Its serial production takes place at the company's specialised power electronics factory in Northern Spain, enabling Ingeteam to achieve economies of scale and reduce the final costs of hydrogen projects. Continuing with its ambitious product roadmap for the sector, Ingeteam is already working on the next generation of rectifiers, with improved performance and a design that has evolved in parallel with market needs (higher power density, high-quality current supply, power factor controllability, etc.). To meet such demands, Ingeteam possesses the necessary knowledge, resources and human team, in addition to cutting-edge laboratories and state-of-the-art simulation tools to guarantee a power supply system that can meet the grid requirements of any country in the world, with the best energy performance. The power and control electronics required to power and manage electrolysers are becoming increasingly important in hydrogen production plants. Causing other players in the industry, in addition to electrolyser manufacturers, to attach increasing importance to how power is supplied in their projects. The SoHyCal project has been promoted by H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies (H2B2). Ingeteam supplied the power conversion system for the electrolysers, expected to produce one tonne of renewable hydrogen a day during the initial phase currently in progress. Ingeteam has supplied its technology for the largest renewable hydrogen production plant in operation in North America. Namely the SoHyCal project, promoted by H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies in Fresno County, California, to serve public hydrogen refuelling stations in the San Joaquin Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. In particular, this 100% renewable hydrogen production plant employs PEM electrolysis technology. The electrolyser will receive direct current from a Power Station with two rectifiers developed and manufactured by Ingeteam. The electricity consumed by this renewable hydrogen production facility is currently produced by a biogas genset. In the second phase of the project, which is expected to be developed in the coming months, H2B2 will incorporate a photovoltaic power plant on the adjacent land. At which point SoHyCal will become the largest hydrogen production plant with an isolated solar power supply, constituting a small energy hub, achieving a total production of three tonnes of renewable hydrogen per day, to supply hydrogen filling stations in the area. The project was awarded a USD 3.96M grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) under the Clean Transportation Programme. In the words of Pedro Pajares, CEO of H2B2 USA, "The project is intended to contribute significantly to the growing demand for hydrogen, particularly in transport applications, emissions reduction and mobility decarbonisation". Harkaitz Ibaiondo, director of Ingeteam's green hydrogen business unit, stated that "this project is very important for Ingeteam, as it is our first project in North America and confirms our firm global commitment to green hydrogen". This system, powered by renewable energy, replaces the diesel systems used to date. Ingeteam has developed and supplied the first 15 units of its Yaw Backup System to an offshore project in the United Kingdom. The company began the development of this system in 2020 to offer the market a reliable and more efficient alternative to diesel systems responsible for pivoting the nacelle on the tower when there are strong wind conditions and the wind turbine is disconnected from the electrical grid for power outages caused by weather. The system is made up of a frequency converter along with a stack of batteries that provide energy to the wind turbine so that it can withstand the extreme weather that usually occurs on the high seas, keeping the rotor aligned in the direction of the wind. The forces acting on the blades and the structure are thus minimized, avoiding possible breakdowns and significant damage to the wind turbine components. It is a sustainable solution that guarantees an instant response in adverse weather conditions, to reduce the mechanical stresses of the wind turbine by directly feeding the Yaw Backup System, thus maintaining the safety of all its components and avoiding economic losses. In addition, the Yaw Backup System also provides an emergency electrical power source to support essential loads such as control and communications, among other systems. These systems are also used in parks located in areas affected by typhoons and other adverse weather conditions. However, the increase in the size of offshore wind turbines means that they are increasingly sensitive to the loads supported and, in these situations, solutions such as the Yaw Backup System become essential. Specifically, this project located in the United Kingdom has already received and installed the first units of this system developed by Ingeteam, making it a coherent project aligned with its mission of generating clean energy by avoiding mechanics powered by fossil fuels. The energy stored in the batteries that enable the movement of the nacelle comes from the wind turbine itself, which contributes to the sustainability of the projects and makes it 100% renewable. The different phases of the project, which will be put into operation in the coming months, will use Ingeteam technology as it has already passed the initial testing phase. The project is expected to be fully operational in 2026 and will manage 4.1 GWh of photovoltaic energy daily, helping to improve the efficiency, security and stability of the Chilean National Electricity System. Ingeteam, present in the country for over 10 years, thereby reinforces its position as a technology partner. Ingeteam has been selected by Grenergy as its technology partner for what will be the world's largest battery storage facility when in operation. The Oasis de Atacama project, developed by Grenergy in the Chilean Atacama Desert, will be built in five phases, which combine photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage. Ingeteam will provide its power conversion and control technology for the two systems (solar and battery). The agreement signed with Grenergy strengthens and reinforces the excellent relationship between the two companies. Once completed, the project will provide 1 GW of power and 4.1 GWh of storage capacity, previously unheard-of figures for battery systems. Its storage capacity equals the amount of energy consumed annually by approximately 145,700 Chilean households and will contribute to the reduction of annual CO2 emissions by more than 147,000 tonnes. The different project phases will enter operation in the next 36 months, storing clean solar energy, as all of the battery systems will be associated with solar power plants. The scope of the agreement between the two companies includes the supply of solar and storage inverters pre-integrated into the transformer stations and delivered as a turnkey solution ready for installation. Ingeteam will also supply the control system and commissioning services for the inverters, transformer stations and facilities. According to Ingeteam's battery energy storage business director, José Antonio Unanue, "Chile is undergoing a period of firm and decisive commitment to storage as a key element to maximise its use of renewable energy. More and more projects are using our technology, and we are extremely proud to help the country achieve its goals for decarbonising its economy”. Ingeteam has experienced unstoppable growth since its arrival in the country more than 10 years ago. To date, it has supplied its technology for 68 solar power plants - many being Small Distributed Generation Means (PMGD in Spanish) in conjunction with Grenergy - and for other emblematic large-scale projects such as Malgarida, San Pedro, Granja Solar, Amanecer Solar, Quilapilún, Gran Teno, Javiera and Usya. This stunning project arrives in the context of the Chilean government's firm commitment to battery energy storage technology under Law 21505, which was approved in November 2022. The law, among other aspects, seeks to promote the inclusion of renewable energy (mainly wind and photovoltaic) in the electricity matrix. Unanue also commented that "Ingeteam believes this project will make use of one of the most interesting aspects of battery energy storage systems: their ability to provide photovoltaic and wind power plants with greater flexibility, which due to their intermittent nature need to store surplus production for consumption when there is no sun or wind available". This product will be on display at the Genera trade fair being held in Madrid from February 6 to 8. Ingeteam's range of hybrid inverters (solar + batteries), so far available only in single-phase version, is now extended with four new three-phase hybrid inverter models of 10, 15, 20 and 30 kW, all of them with two photovoltaic MPPTs (MPPT: Maximum Power Point Tracker). These models are aimed at residential, commercial and industrial self-consumption systems that combine photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage systems. The main advantage of these hybrid inverters is that two different PV arrays (for roofs with different orientations) and a battery system can be connected to a single inverter, which also integrates the Energy Management System (EMS) as standard. This makes the inverter the brain of the installation, allowing the system to be monitored at all times through a mobile application. Furthermore, although it is an inverter designed to operate connected to the grid to minimize consumption from the grid, it can also generate an AC grid to supply critical loads in the event of a power outage. The 10-kW model, which will be the first to be available on the market, can be ordered through Ingeteam's official distributors at the end of February. The first units will be available in June 2024. The PCF is calculated from the CO2 footprints of the raw materials, plus the CO2 footprints of the production processes involved, each weighted with the efficiency factors from raw material to finished product. Ingeteam's commitment to environmental transparency in the development of its products is reinforced by quantifying their environmental impact. Along these lines, Ingeteam and Grunver Sustainability have worked on the process of compiling life cycle data for the C Series central inverter for large photovoltaic and battery plants, and also for its hybrid inverter aimed at residential systems: INGECON SUN STORAGE 1Play. In both cases, data processing has been carried out to obtain the calculation and verification of the carbon footprint. This study has a cradle-to-grave scope, i.e. the environmental impact has been calculated from the extraction of raw materials to the end-of-life management of the product. More specifically, among all the parameters obtained, the study reveals a carbon footprint of 1.81E+05 kg CO2 equivalent for the central inverter and 1.48E+03 kg CO2 equivalent for the hybrid inverter for residential systems. The study was conducted according to ISO standards UNE EN ISO 14067:2019 and PCR for electric and electrical products and systems EPD Italy 007 (Rev. 3.0) and PCR ParU for Power Inverters: EPD Italy 032 of the EPD Italy type III eco-labeling system. At the end of 2023 one of its new electric vehicle chargers, the RAPID 120/180, designed and manufactured by Ingeteam, became the first Ingeteam product to have the Environmental Declaration under the Product Category Rules of the PEP Eco Passport Program. Ingeteam has supplied the power stations (for PV and battery storage systems), the commissioning of this equipment, the control system and the SCADA monitoring system. The largest photovoltaic complex in Latin America is powered by Ingeteam technology. With a total capacity of 1 GW, this hybrid project, located in the north of Mexico, will be completed in 2027. Then it will generate enough energy to power more than 500,000 households. Ingeteam has supplied its technology for the first phase of the project, which is already in operation. The project, which now occupies 240 hectares, will be gradually expanded to reach the 2,000 hectares planned for the next five years. This is an emblematic project for Mexico, not only because of its size, but also because it presents the additional novelty of hybridizing an energy storage system with photovoltaic generation. The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is developing this project, the first phase of which is already in full operation. With a total investment of more than 1.6 billion euros, it is the only large-scale photovoltaic plant currently under construction in Mexico. For this first phase, Ingeteam has supplied 158 MW of power stations (12 MW / 24 MWh for the storage system and 146 MW for the photovoltaic plant), which have been supplied as a fully integrated, ready-to-install solution. The company has also supplied the PPC (power plant controller), the SCADA monitoring system and has been responsible for the commissioning work. In addition, Ingeteam has supplied the communication equipment responsible for collecting information from the substation from which the energy is evacuated, to send it to the central telecontrol stations. For José Luis González, Ingeteam's Sales Manager for the Solar PV, BESS & Green H2 sector, "this project fits in very well with our role as a technology partner, where we accompany the customer throughout all the phases of the project, providing them with a wide range of solutions in all of them". He also added that "the fact that our technology has been chosen at a time when no new photovoltaic plants are being developed in Mexico is a confirmation of our good position in the country, where we have a strong local presence".   Wed, 21 Jun 2023 13:15:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3532 https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3530/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-unveils-a-new-range-of-inverters-for-residential-commercial-industrial-and-large-photovoltaic-plants.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3391&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3530 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3530&PortalID=12&TabID=3391 Ingeteam unveils a new range of inverters for residential, commercial, industrial, and large photovoltaic plants https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3530/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-unveils-a-new-range-of-inverters-for-residential-commercial-industrial-and-large-photovoltaic-plants.aspx Consisting of several inverter models, both single-phase and three-phase, with power levels ranging from 3 kW to 350 kW and featuring multiple Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs). This certification is essential to market the generators in the U.S. and Canada and to comply with the highest safety and quality standards in the wind energy sector. Ingeteam has renewed its UL certification to market its Indar wind generators in the U.S. and Canada. The company, which has held this certification since 2012, owns a factory in Milwaukee, WI from where it manufactures generators to be installed in North American wind farms. To obtain this validation, a certifying company must confirm that the generators comply with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards, a highly valued and demanded requirement in the sector. Specifically, the generator insulation system must be validated in an external laboratory based on said standards, fixing the insulation materials and layers, with tests lasting one year, subjecting the insulation system to stress conditions that simulate the design life (the current standard in the sector being above 20-25 years). During the prototype validation process with the client, the certifying company supervises the tests on the company's test bench, in accordance with the limits of the applicable regulations. From this point on, the design of the insulation system, safety and protection distances, as well as the need for certain components with their own UL certification, are established as part of the certification. The serial-produced Indar wind generators undergo quarterly certification reviews to ensure they continue to meet the established design and validated standards. This requires that the materials and criteria are the same as those that have been validated in the laboratory and the test bench, limiting any modification. This certification makes the Indar generators meet the highest quality standards requested by the wind market. The inauguration took place in Uralla, New South Wales, and was attended by Australia's Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Bowen. The official inauguration of the first phase of what will be Australia's largest photovoltaic complex was held on Thursday, March 16. New England Solar Farm, located in New South Wales, is being developed in two phases by ACEN Renewables. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Australian Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Bowen, and was attended by several members of the Australian media, as well as members of the ACEN Renewables Australia team, the construction company Green Light Contractors and several members of Ingeteam Australia, as the company responsible for the supply of 472 MVA through its power stations and the PPC (power plant controller) plant control system. Currently around 300 MW of solar capacity and the 33/330 kV substation have been connected, but this first phase is expected to reach 400 MW of nominal capacity in the coming months. Once both phases are completed, this solar complex will be the largest in the country with 720 MW and a 400 MWh energy storage system, which translates to a total capacity to produce 1,800,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean, renewable energy each year, enough to power more than 250,000 typical New South Wales homes. In addition, the layout of the rows of photovoltaic panels, installed on a single-axis tracking system, allows enough space for sheep to graze inside the plant.  Juan Miguel Gutiérrez, director of Ingeteam Australia, has pointed out that "the inauguration of this plant marks an important milestone in the implementation of Ingeteam in Australia as a technology partner, as well as being a giant step forward in the country's energy transition".     Thu, 23 Mar 2023 07:52:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3501 https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3342/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-to-showcase-its-latest-wind-power-technologies-at-WindEurope.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3391&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3342 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3342&PortalID=12&TabID=3391 Ingeteam to showcase its latest wind power technologies at WindEurope https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3342/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-to-showcase-its-latest-wind-power-technologies-at-WindEurope.aspx Ingeteam, the global specialist in wind energy drivetrain technology, will participate at WindEurope Annual Event Bilbao, a key global trade event for companies operating in the wind energy industry. Previously, the hamlet only had access to electricity for 4 hours a day, but Ingeteam provided equipment and services to install a solar energy supply and storage system. The quality of life for the 750 inhabitants of Vila Restauração in the Amazon improved considerably, having transitioned from a mere 4 hours of electricity a day to an uninterrupted supply. Moreover, the energy they now have at their disposal is clean, as opposed to their previous reliance on a diesel generator unit. This R&D project was developed by Alsol Energias Renováveis (Energisa Group company). The energy generation and storage system consist of four solar inverters with their respective solar panels; four storage inverters with their respective battery banks; two biodiesel generator units and low-voltage switchgear for microgrid automation and protection. System operation During the day photovoltaic power generation not only supplies electricity to the hamlet but also recharges the batteries that will come into operation later in the day. Therefore, during the night the hamlet is powered by the batteries charged during the day. What happens when it is cloudy? When it is cloudy, the battery charge is low and the photovoltaic system cannot provide enough energy to power the hamlet and recharge the batteries, at which point the generator unit is activated to provide the necessary energy to the hamlet and also charge the batteries. It should be noted that the entire operation of this microgrid, consisting of a generation system on the one hand and an energy storage system on the other, is automated. This enables systems to be created in which photovoltaic energy generation can be adjusted by varying microgrid frequency to avoid overloading battery banks and meet the demand of the hamlet's residents, thus achieving a balance between energy generation, consumption and storage Thu, 24 Mar 2022 08:10:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3337 https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3333/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-is-supplying-its-solar-inverters-for-two-Mercury-Renew-projects-in-Brazil-totaling-210-MWp.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3391&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3333 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3333&PortalID=12&TabID=3391 Ingeteam is supplying its solar inverters for two Mercury Renew projects in Brazil, totaling 210 MWp https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3333/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-is-supplying-its-solar-inverters-for-two-Mercury-Renew-projects-in-Brazil-totaling-210-MWp.aspx   The supply is divided into two PV plants: Brígida (80 MWp) and Bon Nome (130 MWp).   The solar inverters were manufactured at Ingeteam's PV plant located in the state of São Paulo, and the medium voltage skids were also assembled in Brazil.   Ingeteam has already concluded the supply of 108 solar inverters made in Brazil and 32 substations or power stations also assembled in the country. The supply was directed at two PV projects from Mercury Renew, a Grupo Comerc Energia company. The Brígida 80 MWp solar plant, that has been operating since April last year and was inaugurated in July by the minister of Mines and Energy and the minister of Tourism. The Bon Norme 130 MWp solar plant has been commissioned now. Both plants are part of the same solar complex located in the state of Pernambuco.   For these photovoltaic projects, Ingeteam has supplied 32 power stations of the INGECON SUN MSK model. The hub, which is located in Elche in southern Spain, at a site that is very close to Alicante airport, offers two charging stations, one in each direction of the highway and with a rated output power of 4MW. The stations comprise sixteen RAPID ST units with different output powers and offering the possibility of charging up to sixteen vehicles simultaneously. Four of the points permit charging at 400 kW, the highest power on the market, making it possible to fully charge a vehicle in approximately five minutes. The other twelve points have a charging range of up to 200 kW. What is more, this charging station is equipped with the new INGECON SUN STORAGE Power Series B. This is an AC/DC converter that generates a direct current bus for the RAPID ST, in other words, it converts alternating to direct current and the Ingeteam chargers are then responsible for adapting the voltage to each vehicle's specific requirements. Therefore, the sixteen charging points at the hub, including the 400 kW charger, which is the most powerful on the market, can achieve a total output power of 4MW.  Ingeteam is continuing to work towards its goal of achieving a more sustainable future, under the premise of obtaining zero emissions and aiming to create the best technology that will contribute to decarbonization and to the achievement of a more sustainable energy model. Last year, the company supplied solar inverters for eleven PV plants with a rated power of 100 MW or more, one of which was Francisco Pizarro: Europe’s largest solar farm. Furthermore, Ingeteam signed 1.5 GW of O&M contracts for solar PV plants in 2021.   Ingeteam. February 21st, 2022. Ingeteam closed the year 2021 with good numbers despite the pandemic. The last year, the company supplied 4,229 MW to the solar and energy storage global markets. These numbers represent the best historical records of the company. Moreover, Ingeteam also signed 1.5 GW of operation and maintenance contracts for the solar PV sector. In 2021, the key markets in which the company has grown its solar business are Spain, Australia, USA, Brazil, Chile and Colombia. However, the products sold last year were supplied to 23 countries in all five continents. José Luis González, Sales Director of the Ingeteam Solar Photovoltaic Area, emphasised that "we expect to consolidate our position in the markets in which we are most active and well-established, yet without losing sight of any new opportunities that may arise in other countries with good growth prospects." The company has an extensive product portfolio, ranging from string inverters, directed at residential, commercial and industrial systems, up to central inverters, directed at large-scale plants rated at hundreds of megawatts. In fact, in 2021 Ingeteam supplied its PV inverters to eleven plants whose rated capacity is either equal to or greater than 100 MW. In this group of large-scale solar plants, particular mention should be made of Francisco Pizarro, Euope’s largest PV plant (590 MWp). Energy storage Energy storage is a key sector for Ingeteam, where the company has positioned itself for the considerable development expected in the short and medium term for systems of this type, both at a residential level and also on a large scale. In fact, Ingeteam markets its battery converters for both segments, and last year it supplied and was awarded contracts for a total of more than 400 MW / 1,000 MWh. Those supply contracts were principally signed for countries such as the United States, Spain, Australia, Chile and UK. Global leader in the provision of Operation & Maintenance Services Furthermore, the company has achieved a new annual record for maintained power, exceeding 18.5 GW of renewable power across the globe, of which 9.5 GW correspond to solar power in more than 570 PV plants. This means that Ingeteam is currently securing its global leadership position as an ISP (Independent Service Provider) of operation and maintenance services at energy generation plants.    Ingeteam by the numbers: +25 GW of solar and battery inverters +54 GW of wind converters +18.5 GW of O&M contracts for renewable energy plants   Mon, 21 Feb 2022 08:17:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3319 https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3295/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-commissions-the-first-PV-plant-with-batteries-in-Spain.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3391&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3295 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3295&PortalID=12&TabID=3391 Ingeteam commissions the first PV plant with batteries in Spain https://www.ingeteam.com/cl/Pressroom/tabid/3391/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3295/language/es-CL/Ingeteam-commissions-the-first-PV-plant-with-batteries-in-Spain.aspx This is also the first Spanish project in which Ingeteam has installed its new DC/DC converter, permitting a battery storage system with a distributed installation within the PV plant. The 40 MW Arañuelo III photovoltaic plant is now up and running. This is the first large-scale PV plant in Spain to incorporate an energy storage system, comprising in this case a 3MW / 9 MWh battery system. This solar plant is part of the Campo Arañuelo photovoltaic complex developed by Iberdrola in the district of Almaraz in Extremadura and formed by the Arañuelo I, II and III solar plants, with a total installed capacity of 143 MW. Ingeteam was the technology partner selected by Iberdrola to equip the Campo Arañuelo solar complex. In the case of Arañuelo plants I and II, the supply was the usual one for a PV plant: PV inverters, transformer stations, PPC (power plant controller) system and commissioning. The novelty of the project relates to Arañuelo III given that, in addition to all the above, Ingeteam also completed the turnkey supply of the energy storage system. In other words, Ingeteam supplied the lithium-ion batteries, the integration of the batteries in the 45-foot containers, the converters, the SCADA monitoring system, the civil work, the field assembly of the storage system and its subsequent commissioning. Furthermore, Ingeteam was also responsible for the supply of the digital protection and control system for the Arañuelo III substation. The scope of supply included the systems responsible for the protection and control of the line delivering power to the grid from the plant, the 30/132kV step-up transformer, the collector circuits and the connection circuit for the energy storage system, providing the renewable energy control centre (CORE) with real-time information and access to any of the elements. A new battery converter As well as being the first large-scale solar plant in Spain to incorporate batteries, this project offers a further novel feature with the inclusion of the battery storage system within the PV plant as a distributed system with a DC-Coupling configuration. In this mode, the batteries are installed within the solar array and the battery converters share the DC connection with the PV inverters, offering the following key technical advantages: Possibility of utilizing the extra power from the solar panels that is not used in the peak production hours (Clipping Recapture). This makes it possible to minimize the losses by charging the batteries from the PV array, given that the connection between the panels and the batteries only passes through the DC/DC converter. The discharge is also more efficient, due to the fact that no power transformer is required, in contrast to the AC connected solution. This novel technique to create a hybrid PV generation system with battery energy storage, was made possible thanks to the development by Ingeteam of a new battery converter: the DC-DC series of the INGECON SUN STORAGE Power family. This converter is coupled to the DC input of a PV inverter, thereby obtaining in practice a hybrid central inverter with a direct coupling to the solar panels and batteries alike and with a single AC output that is coupled to the LV/MV transformer. The Campo Arañuelo complex is already producing clean energy to supply a population equivalent to 65,000 homes a year and will prevent the release into the atmosphere of 41,000 tons of CO2 each year. Scope of supply for the Campo Arañuelo PV complex 29 power stations fitted with all the necessary equipment to inject medium voltage power: LV/MV transformer, medium voltage switchgear, auxiliary services transformer and auxiliary services switchgear. 72 units of the INGECON® SUN 1640TL B630 solar inverter with a rated power output of 1.64 MW. Ingeteam's three-phase inverters INGECON SUN 20TL M, INGECON SUN 33TL M, INGECON SUN 100TL PRO and INGECON SUN 160TL PRO are already being manufactured with these new improvements, which allow them to withstand a higher input current to be able to use them with the new models of more powerful photovoltaic panels. This means savings in DC cabling in the entire photovoltaic plant, since as each inverter admits more current per string, the total number of strings required is reduced. This also leads to savings in construction work. Thus, solar inverters between 20 and 33 kW with two Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPT) now support up to 12A for each PV connector. The INGECON SUN 100TL PRO solar inverter supports up to 15A per connector, while the INGECON SUN 160TL PRO inverter now supports a maximum current of 20A per photovoltaic connector. This inverter designed for large photovoltaic plants is suitable for solar panel models designed with both 182 mm and 210 mm wafers, which already exceed 600 W of power. For these types of plants, Ingeteam also offers the String Station, a turnkey LV-to-MV transformer station with 1500 Vdc string inverters. This is a Hazitek project, co-financed through the European Regional Development Fund 2014-2020 (ERDF). Ingeteam expects the first ship with this technology to start operating in 2022.   Ingeteam is immersed in a new R&D development to stabilise ships during heavy part loading and unloading manoeuvres, mainly for oil platforms or offshore wind farms. It involves a new advanced control system for ships transporting high-tonnage parts, which performs a comprehensive analysis of on board elements when the vessel's crane is used for loading and unloading manoeuvres, and which automatically compensates the water in hold tanks to stabilise the vessel. The project has gained €500,000 in investment, and the support of the Basque Government's Hazitek Business R&D programme and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It should be noted that these heavy Floating Crane Installation Vessels specialise in the transport of parts for offshore oil platforms or offshore wind turbines and can have a considerable tonnage. Unlike jackup rigs, crane vessels are faster at facilities as they do not use anchor legs, although they do require stability and positioning control due to the large size and weight of the parts they handle. Loading and unloading manoeuvres are delicate, as the crane can cause the vessel to heel or even sink. To prevent the ship from capsizing, heeling must be compensated by a counterweight to ensure the stability of the vessel by using water to fill different hold tanks in the ship. By installing pumps in the hold, it is possible to speed up the transfer of water between on board storage compartments, and thereby act as a counterweight to adapt the load level during the operation. The new advanced control system, developed by Ingeteam, enables this weight compensation system to be automated in order to stabilise manoeuvres at sea, by employing a mathematical model capable of predicting the torsional moment, anticipating its effect, and maintaining stability. By monitoring all of the ship’s elements via the installation of sensors, real-time measurements can be obtained of the ship's inclination, or tank levels, and used to produce a simulation of the distribution of the weight and forces in the ship. The system operates pumps to transfer the water between the different tanks, counteracting any possible imbalances that may be created during a manoeuvre. This project, called Antiheeling 4.0, represents a breakthrough in the sector, as it automates stabilisation by controlling ship ballast and draught during loading and unloading operations at sea, thus ensuring safer and more effective manoeuvres. Ingeteam expects the first ship with this technology to start operating in 2022. To better visualise its operation, Ingeteam has created a digital twin of the first vessel where the system will be installed, with a crane capable of handling weights of 5,000 tonnes. This will make it possible to simulate the behaviour of the system and conduct testing, and thereby improve its performance and efficiency before implementation.
