Ingeteam strengthens its commitment to the development of more sustainable rail transport in Poland

  • This new contract brings the total number of locomotives operating with Ingeteam traction systems in Poland to 78.
  • The converters to be supplied by Ingeteam are to be manufactured at the company's plant in Ortuella, Bizkaia, Spain.
  • Ingeteam will supply traction converters and monitoring solutions for the vehicles made by the Polish company, PESA.

Ingeteam is strengthening its commitment to the development of rail transport with a new contract to equip 24 locomotives for the Polish company, PESA. Specifically, Ingeteam is to supply 48 high-power traction converters as well as the complete Train Control and Monitoring System (TCMS).

Particular mention should be made of the fact that Ingeteam's traction equipment offers significant advantages to the locomotives in terms of efficiency, dimensions and weight. Furthermore, Ingeteam's converters will facilitate on-board maintenance activities.

Once these locomotives come into operation, there will be a total of 78 locomotives equipped with Ingeteam traction units operating in Poland and its neighbouring countries.

The converters are to be manufactured at Ingeteam's plant in Ortuella (Bizkaia), which was inaugurated at the end of 2019 and is now at full capacity. This is the second contract of these characteristics for this plant in less than one year, given that, in June 2021, the train manufacturer, PESA, already placed its trust in Ingeteam to equip its trains with the INGETRAC converters. On that occasion, the contract was for the supply of traction converters for 12 locomotives and 8 EMUs.
