South Africa's Ambassador to Spain, His Excellency Lulama Smuts Ngonyama, accompanied by Defence Attaché Col. Brenda N. Baba, visited Ingeteam's laboratory and Indar's production facilities.
During their visit to the group's facilities, they had the opportunity to observe first-hand the high quality of the company's products and its clear commitment to innovation. Specifically, they visited Ingeteam's power electronics laboratory located in the Technology Park of Bizkaia, and then went on to tour Indar's production facilities at Beasain (Gipuzkoa).
It should be highlighted that Ingeteam opened a subsidiary in South Africa more than 3 years' ago, at Midrand, close to Johannesburg, occupying a surface area of 540 m2 distributed between offices, showrooms and test benches.
Indar is currently executing a number of hydropower projects in South Africa, whilst it has also supplied more than 150 MW in wind turbines and installed submersible pumps and motors in the mining sector.
For its part, Ingeteam has reached the figure of 200 MW installed in PV plants in South Africa and has supplied protection, control and metering systems for plant substations. In addition to the supply of inverters to the largest PV plants in the country, Ingeteam is also performing operation and maintenance tasks at these plants. Furthermore, Ingeteam has supplied and installed 46 converters for the wind power sector.
The company also operates in the power distribution and transmission sectors, railway traction and solar thermal plants in South Africa. Specifically, in traction, Ingeteam is active in train upgrading and in braking energy recovery systems. In the power distribution sector, Ingeteam has installed hundreds of control and protection units at Gauteng, where the company is currently working on the RTU deployment program.
Finally, we would highlight the fact that the Ingeteam electric vehicle charging stations are installed in South Africa, for public use and for all types of vehicles. Ingeteam therefore offers EV users the opportunity to charge their batteries with latest generation technology.
