The Spanish technological company has manufactured a new rectifier for large-scale green hydrogen production plants since October, the INGECON H2 E-lyzer. As an industry pioneer, it has supplied equipment to the world's leading electrolyser manufacturers for their initial projects. Ingeteam strengthens its leadership in the renewable hydrogen sector. In addition to the projects already commissioned in the last year and a half, it has a portfolio of over 400 MW of awarded projects to be delivered in 2024. The projects are distributed all over the world, in destinations such as Australia, Canada, the United States, Germany, Spain and other European countries. Ingeteam currently has rectifiers feeding different PEM and alkaline electrolysers in plants in Spain, Belgium and the United States, generating renewable hydrogen for different applications. Two more projects will be supplied in Spain and the United States in the first half of 2024. A new milestone will be achieved this year, with the supply of a 160 MW electrolysis project, the largest that Ingeteam has embarked upon in the sector to date. Renewable hydrogen currently enjoys good growth prospects, due to a very mature and stable hydrogen consumption market for different applications (refineries, fertiliser production, etc.), which have no decarbonisation alternatives other than using renewable hydrogen. In response to the growing demand, Ingeteam launched a new rectifier in October 2023, the INGECON H2 E-lyzer, aimed at large-scale green hydrogen production plants. The rectifier is based on IGBT technology and has the highest current density on the market. Its serial production takes place at the company's specialised power electronics factory in Northern Spain, enabling Ingeteam to achieve economies of scale and reduce the final costs of hydrogen projects. Continuing with its ambitious product roadmap for the sector, Ingeteam is already working on the next generation of rectifiers, with improved performance and a design that has evolved in parallel with market needs (higher power density, high-quality current supply, power factor controllability, etc.). To meet such demands, Ingeteam possesses the necessary knowledge, resources and human team, in addition to cutting-edge laboratories and state-of-the-art simulation tools to guarantee a power supply system that can meet the grid requirements of any country in the world, with the best energy performance. The power and control electronics required to power and manage electrolysers are becoming increasingly important in hydrogen production plants. Causing other players in the industry, in addition to electrolyser manufacturers, to attach increasing importance to how power is supplied in their projects. The SoHyCal project has been promoted by H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies (H2B2). Ingeteam supplied the power conversion system for the electrolysers, expected to produce one tonne of renewable hydrogen a day during the initial phase currently in progress. Ingeteam has supplied its technology for the largest renewable hydrogen production plant in operation in North America. Namely the SoHyCal project, promoted by H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies in Fresno County, California, to serve public hydrogen refuelling stations in the San Joaquin Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. In particular, this 100% renewable hydrogen production plant employs PEM electrolysis technology. The electrolyser will receive direct current from a Power Station with two rectifiers developed and manufactured by Ingeteam. The electricity consumed by this renewable hydrogen production facility is currently produced by a biogas genset. In the second phase of the project, which is expected to be developed in the coming months, H2B2 will incorporate a photovoltaic power plant on the adjacent land. At which point SoHyCal will become the largest hydrogen production plant with an isolated solar power supply, constituting a small energy hub, achieving a total production of three tonnes of renewable hydrogen per day, to supply hydrogen filling stations in the area. The project was awarded a USD 3.96M grant from the California Energy Commission (CEC) under the Clean Transportation Programme. In the words of Pedro Pajares, CEO of H2B2 USA, "The project is intended to contribute significantly to the growing demand for hydrogen, particularly in transport applications, emissions reduction and mobility decarbonisation". Harkaitz Ibaiondo, director of Ingeteam's green hydrogen business unit, stated that "this project is very important for Ingeteam, as it is our first project in North America and confirms our firm global commitment to green hydrogen". This system, powered by renewable energy, replaces the diesel systems used to date. Ingeteam has developed and supplied the first 15 units of its Yaw Backup System to an offshore project in the United Kingdom. The company began the development of this system in 2020 to offer the market a reliable and more efficient alternative to diesel systems responsible for pivoting the nacelle on the tower when there are strong wind conditions and the wind turbine is disconnected from the electrical grid for power outages caused by weather. The system is made up of a frequency converter along with a stack of batteries that provide energy to the wind turbine so that it can withstand the extreme weather that usually occurs on the high seas, keeping the rotor aligned in the direction of the wind. The forces acting on the blades and the structure are thus minimized, avoiding possible breakdowns and significant damage to the wind turbine components. It is a sustainable solution that guarantees an instant response in adverse weather conditions, to reduce the mechanical stresses of the wind turbine by directly feeding the Yaw Backup System, thus maintaining the safety of all its components and avoiding economic losses. In addition, the Yaw Backup System also provides an emergency electrical power source to support essential loads such as control and communications, among other systems. These systems are also used in parks located in areas affected by typhoons and other adverse weather conditions. However, the increase in the size of offshore wind turbines means that they are increasingly sensitive to the loads supported and, in these situations, solutions such as the Yaw Backup System become essential. Specifically, this project located in the United Kingdom has already received and installed the first units of this system developed by Ingeteam, making it a coherent project aligned with its mission of generating clean energy by avoiding mechanics powered by fossil fuels. The energy stored in the batteries that enable the movement of the nacelle comes from the wind turbine itself, which contributes to the sustainability of the projects and makes it 100% renewable. The different phases of the project, which will be put into operation in the coming months, will use Ingeteam technology as it has already passed the initial testing phase. The project is expected to be fully operational in 2026 and will manage 4.1 GWh of photovoltaic energy daily, helping to improve the efficiency, security and stability of the Chilean National Electricity System. Ingeteam, present in the country for over 10 years, thereby reinforces its position as a technology partner. Ingeteam has been selected by Grenergy as its technology partner for what will be the world's largest battery storage facility when in operation. The Oasis de Atacama project, developed by Grenergy in the Chilean Atacama Desert, will be built in five phases, which combine photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage. Ingeteam will provide its power conversion and control technology for the two systems (solar and battery). The agreement signed with Grenergy strengthens and reinforces the excellent relationship between the two companies. Once completed, the project will provide 1 GW of power and 4.1 GWh of storage capacity, previously unheard-of figures for battery systems. Its storage capacity equals the amount of energy consumed annually by approximately 145,700 Chilean households and will contribute to the reduction of annual CO2 emissions by more than 147,000 tonnes. The different project phases will enter operation in the next 36 months, storing clean solar energy, as all of the battery systems will be associated with solar power plants. The scope of the agreement between the two companies includes the supply of solar and storage inverters pre-integrated into the transformer stations and delivered as a turnkey solution ready for installation. Ingeteam will also supply the control system and commissioning services for the inverters, transformer stations and facilities. According to Ingeteam's battery energy storage business director, José Antonio Unanue, "Chile is undergoing a period of firm and decisive commitment to storage as a key element to maximise its use of renewable energy. More and more projects are using our technology, and we are extremely proud to help the country achieve its goals for decarbonising its economy”. Ingeteam has experienced unstoppable growth since its arrival in the country more than 10 years ago. To date, it has supplied its technology for 68 solar power plants - many being Small Distributed Generation Means (PMGD in Spanish) in conjunction with Grenergy - and for other emblematic large-scale projects such as Malgarida, San Pedro, Granja Solar, Amanecer Solar, Quilapilún, Gran Teno, Javiera and Usya. This stunning project arrives in the context of the Chilean government's firm commitment to battery energy storage technology under Law 21505, which was approved in November 2022. The law, among other aspects, seeks to promote the inclusion of renewable energy (mainly wind and photovoltaic) in the electricity matrix. Unanue also commented that "Ingeteam believes this project will make use of one of the most interesting aspects of battery energy storage systems: their ability to provide photovoltaic and wind power plants with greater flexibility, which due to their intermittent nature need to store surplus production for consumption when there is no sun or wind available". This product will be on display at the Genera trade fair being held in Madrid from February 6 to 8. Ingeteam's range of hybrid inverters (solar + batteries), so far available only in single-phase version, is now extended with four new three-phase hybrid inverter models of 10, 15, 20 and 30 kW, all of them with two photovoltaic MPPTs (MPPT: Maximum Power Point Tracker). These models are aimed at residential, commercial and industrial self-consumption systems that combine photovoltaic generation with battery energy storage systems. The main advantage of these hybrid inverters is that two different PV arrays (for roofs with different orientations) and a battery system can be connected to a single inverter, which also integrates the Energy Management System (EMS) as standard. This makes the inverter the brain of the installation, allowing the system to be monitored at all times through a mobile application. Furthermore, although it is an inverter designed to operate connected to the grid to minimize consumption from the grid, it can also generate an AC grid to supply critical loads in the event of a power outage. The 10-kW model, which will be the first to be available on the market, can be ordered through Ingeteam's official distributors at the end of February. The first units will be available in June 2024. The PCF is calculated from the CO2 footprints of the raw materials, plus the CO2 footprints of the production processes involved, each weighted with the efficiency factors from raw material to finished product. Ingeteam's commitment to environmental transparency in the development of its products is reinforced by quantifying their environmental impact. Along these lines, Ingeteam and Grunver Sustainability have worked on the process of compiling life cycle data for the C Series central inverter for large photovoltaic and battery plants, and also for its hybrid inverter aimed at residential systems: INGECON SUN STORAGE 1Play. In both cases, data processing has been carried out to obtain the calculation and verification of the carbon footprint. This study has a cradle-to-grave scope, i.e. the environmental impact has been calculated from the extraction of raw materials to the end-of-life management of the product. More specifically, among all the parameters obtained, the study reveals a carbon footprint of 1.81E+05 kg CO2 equivalent for the central inverter and 1.48E+03 kg CO2 equivalent for the hybrid inverter for residential systems. The study was conducted according to ISO standards UNE EN ISO 14067:2019 and PCR for electric and electrical products and systems EPD Italy 007 (Rev. 3.0) and PCR ParU for Power Inverters: EPD Italy 032 of the EPD Italy type III eco-labeling system. At the end of 2023 one of its new electric vehicle chargers, the RAPID 120/180, designed and manufactured by Ingeteam, became the first Ingeteam product to have the Environmental Declaration under the Product Category Rules of the PEP Eco Passport Program. An assembly line has been set up at the company's factory in northern Spain. The first projects equipped with the new INGECON H2 E-lyzer are expected to be commissioned in the coming months. Ingeteam has accumulated 425 MW in the hydrogen business, including supplied and pipeline projects. Ingeteam has just started manufacturing the first units of a new model of power converter, the INGECON H2 E-lyzer, for feeding electrolysers. An assembly line for this equipment has been established at the company's factory in northern Spain, from where the equipment will be shipped to sites where several green hydrogen production plants are under development in Germany and Spain. With this specific solution for hydrogen, Ingeteam wants to respond to the growing market demand. The power electronics needed to power and control the electrolyzers are becoming an increasingly important part of the total cost of a hydrogen production plant. As plants grow in size and reach gigawatt power levels, it is necessary to develop economies of scale to manufacture cost- and time-optimized components and equipment. Ingeteam, thanks to a well-developed supply chain and a proven mass production line, will supply this new equipment to large electrolyzer plants, contributing to their viability and making hydrogen a competitive decarbonization solution. The new INGECON H2 E-lyzer converter has a very high current density and is capable of supplying 6,000 amps of DC for electrolyser electrolysis use. Ingeteam has also developed a solution that integrates two such converters combined with the rest of the elements on the same platform or full skid, to facilitate direct connection to the medium voltage grid, thus obtaining 12,000 amps of output current. By integrating state-of-the-art IGBT technology, the new converter ensures a very high quality DC power supply and full power factor control, thus adapting to the needs of large-scale renewable hydrogen production. The unit is water-cooled, therefore the compartment where most of the components are located has an IP65 degree of protection, and can be installed outdoors without the need for additional protection. In the green hydrogen sector, Ingeteam has a portfolio of projects, some already delivered and others pending, which currently totals 425 MW. Projects that have or will be developed in the United States, Canada, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Poland, the Netherlands and Australia. On the occasion of World Hydrogen Day, Ingeteam reaffirms its commitment to the deployment and viability of hydrogen technology, advancing on its path to consolidate its position as a leader in clean energy generation. Ingeteam celebrated the 25th anniversary of its production plant in Navarre (Spain), where it manufactures power electronics equipment for the renewable energy sector, for green hydrogen production and electric vehicle recharging. The company also inaugurated new facilities which represent a significant increase in production capacity. With this new building, it plans to meet the growing demand in the sectors in which the company operates. The facilities mainly manufacture wind-power converters, photovoltaic inverters, electric vehicle chargers and converters for batteries and to feed electrolysers (green hydrogen). The company, whose goal is to contribute to the decarbonisation of society, in addition to manufacturing products for the renewable energy sector, has installed a 700 kW solar energy self-consumption system on the roof of the buildings to supply itself with clean energy for more than 35% of its net daily needs. The celebration event was attended by the President of Ingeteam, Teresa Madariaga; the CEO of Ingeteam, Adolfo Rebollo, with other members of the board and senior management of the company, the President of the Navarre Regional Government, María Chivite; the Regional Minister for the Department of University, Innovation and Digital Transformation, Juan Cruz Cigudosa García and the Mayor of Sesma, Pedro Mangado, among other officials. The president of Ingeteam, Teresa Madariaga, stated that "this factory is very important for Ingeteam, as it has been decisive in our growth, which is why we have maintained our commitment to it. We have every confidence in the market success of the new technological developments we will start to manufacture at these new facilities”.   25 years exporting its products all over the world The plant was inaugurated in August 1998 when it employed 30 people. This is where the first wind turbine converters were manufactured, which are still in operation today at the Perdón wind farm. With 57 GW of installed wind power capacity worldwide, Ingeteam is the world's top independent supplier of wind turbine converters. That year also witnessed the production of its first photovoltaic inverters. It has supplied over 28 GW to the solar sector for all manner of PV installations, from residential to large multi-megawatt plants. Later came energy storage associated with renewable technologies, which plays a key role in advancing the energy transition and the electrification of society. Its integration into the electricity grid of the future will bring great benefits, such as making the use of available energy more flexible and optimised, improving the quality of supply, integrating energy generated by renewable sources and ensuring grid stability and reliability. Over the past 13 years, Ingeteam has manufactured more than 25,500 charging stations for electric vehicles, AC and DC, for both the domestic market and for countries such as Portugal, France, Belgium, Italy, the USA, Latin America and other countries in northern and central Europe. In the past year, it is also worth highlighting the converters that have been used for green hydrogen, responsible for supplying direct current so that electrolysers can separate water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen. The power and control electronics for electrolyser power supplies are therefore a key aspect in green hydrogen production via electrolysis, as the supply of power to an electrolyser has a major impact on its efficiency and degradation. New R&D laboratory Ingeteam employs more than 1,000 people in Navarre between its offices in Sarriguren, its power laboratory in Huarte and its factory in Sesma. These facilities will be joined by a new R&D laboratory in Sarriguren, work on which is set to begin in early 2024, set to be a leading innovator in the sector. To date, it has supplied its photovoltaic inverters to 66 photovoltaic plants and to such emblematic projects as Malgarida, San Pedro, Granja Solar, Amanecer Solar, Quilapilún, Quillagua, La Javiera or Usya.   Mon, 18 Sep 2023 09:29:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3548 https://www.ingeteam.com/br/Saladeimprensa/tabid/3372/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3546/language/pt-BR/Ingeteam-provides-solutions-to-combat-drought-in-the-US-and-Australia.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3372&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3546 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3546&PortalID=5&TabID=3372 Ingeteam provides solutions to combat drought in the U.S. and Australia https://www.ingeteam.com/br/Saladeimprensa/tabid/3372/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3546/language/pt-BR/Ingeteam-provides-solutions-to-combat-drought-in-the-US-and-Australia.aspx The Basque company will guarantee the supply of fresh water to 3 million Americans and a pump system that will save water and make more efficient use of natural resources in a valley in the antipodes For great evils, great remedies. One of the most obvious consequences of climate change is the severe droughts that are affecting various areas of the planet. The city of Austin, Texas, and the Murray-Darling River Basin in Australia's Riverland are two examples. Fortunately, the sustainable economy provides solutions to major problems. Such as the Basque company Ingeteam, which at its Beasain facilities produces products such as pumps, motors or generators that are exported to the United States and Australia. In the first case, Ingeteam has been chosen as a technological partner in a "pioneering" project that will supply fresh water to 3 million citizens of the city of Austin (Texas), according to the company, which will be responsible for the supply of 9 Indar submersible pumping units that will guarantee the distribution of water in a "safe and environmentally friendly" way and will help to tackle the severe drought that has plagued the southwestern area of the USA in recent years. The project consists of the installation of a raw water intake on Lake Travis, located on the Colorado River in Texas. This infrastructure has multilevel intake filters connected to a tunnel through which the water will be transported to a new 550 million liter per day pumping station. The pumped water will then reach the treatment plants, from where it will be distributed to the area's population. In addition, a maintenance building will be constructed to house the chemical feed systems that will protect the infrastructure from invasive species and improve water quality prior to pumping. This regional supply solution is currently developing its second phase and is expected to start operations in early 2027. Indar pumps in Australia The second project involves the efficient use of water resources. Ingeteam will contribute to protecting and preserving the Murray-Darling river basin, thanks to the supply of an Indar pump system that will save water and make more efficient use of the area's natural resources. This irrigation project, which will be used for horticulture, will take water from the Murray River and transfer it 7.5 km to be used to irrigate a new almond plantation in the state of South Australia. In this way, Ingeteam presents an innovative alternative that will help to guarantee a sustainable future for the local communities and will help to address the increasingly pressing water shortage in the south of the country. The project has consisted of the design, manufacture and supply of 8 Indar low suction or inverter pumps that have incorporate a water-cooled submersible motor. By locating the suction system at the bottom, the equipment can more efficiently manage the water levels available during the intake process, even when these are at minimum levels. The Indar units have been designed, manufactured and tested under real operating conditions in the test bench that Ingeteam has at its Beasain facilities and will form part of the On-Farm Irrigation Efficiency Program (OFIEP) and within the Sustainable Water Use and Rural Infrastructure Program promoted by the Australian government and have recently been delivered. This is when this innovative solution with the capacity to gradually adjust to irrigation needs as the trees grow over time will be put into operation. Ingeteam, with its Indar submersible pumps and motors designed and manufactured in Beasain, Spain, contributes to solve part of this problem; and among the numerous applications for which the submersible pumps and motors are intended are desalination plants. In this context, the six pumps and their corresponding submersible motors have been installed in the desalination plants of Alicante I and San Pedro del Pinatar I, both belonging to the Commonwealth of the Taibilla Canals, and their main task will be to take the water to be desalinated from the sea and discharge it as drinking water to the primary water network of the region, which in the summer period has more than 3 million inhabitants. The desalination plants and their operation The Alicante I desalination plant is located in Aguamarga, in the municipality of Alicante, Spain. It has a maximum production of 57,500 m³ of water per day and the treated water is fed into the New Alicante Canal (enlarged in 2006). In this installation, 2 Indar pumps manufactured by Ingeteam have been implemented with their respective motors. These water collection units will work in coastal vertical wells which usually have a high variability of water level. The second seawater desalination plant using Ingeteam technology is called San Pedro de Pinatar 1. It is designed to produce and supply the Commonwealth with a daily volume of up to 65,000 m³ of drinking water. The plant is located in the El Mojón area, near the Salinas and Arenales de San Pedro del Pinatar, in the Region of Murcia, Spain. The new units supplied will replace the 4 identical units supplied by the company in 2003.  The 6 units for these desalination plants have been supplied to Ingeteam's distributor, Juan Azcue, S.A., and are made of stainless steel, which is highly resistant to corrosion in aggressive environments such as salinity, humidity, and acid or alkaline media. Both plants take the water from the vicinity and then proceed to its treatment. Thus, the process includes a seawater pretreatment that guarantees its optimal conditions (physical and chemical); desalination as such, which is carried out by means of membrane racks; and finally, a seawater post-treatment that guarantees compliance with the criteria established for water for human consumption by the regulations in force. Ingeteam's Milwaukee plant manufactures generators for the wind energy sector, solar and energy storage inverters, as well as electric vehicle chargers. In this context, Ingeteam is boosting production in Milwaukee, USA, to meet the strong demand for electric vehicle chargers announced by the Biden Administration. To combat the climate crisis, the Biden-Harris Administration has announced the deployment of a nationwide network of 500,000 electric vehicle chargers along its highways and in communities. Ingeteam began operations in the US in 2008 and has created more than 100 jobs. The President of the United States, Joe Biden, toured and spoke at Ingeteam's plant in the USA during his visit to the City of Milwaukee, where he was welcomed by Alex Belaustegui, Ingeteam's Corporate Development Director, along with David Solé, Ingeteam's Managing Director, and Mark Obradovich, Ingeteam's Director in the USA. Since the opening of Ingeteam's Milwaukee plant, the company has manufactured more than 4,000 generators for the wind energy sector and has supplied 4 GW of solar and energy storage inverters for the US market. An additional 1.1 GW of awarded contracts for solar and energy storage sector are in execution stages and scheduled to be installed by end of Q1 of 2024, totaling over 5.1 GW of utility scale installed capacity. US orders of wind turbine generators from Ingeteam are expected to double in the next year thanks to incentives from the Inflation Reduction Act, which President Biden signed into law one year ago. The passage of Inflation Reduction Act has also started to demonstrate a positive and significant impact on the potential growth of the solar, energy storage and electric vehicle chargers’ industry in the US. Ingeteam is well positioned to meet the increasing market demand which will result of hiring more domestic high-paid jobs. In May, Ingeteam announced a new to boost to its plant in Milwaukee, WI which will allow the facility to manufacture electric vehicle chargers for the North American market. This plan was made in direct response to the Biden-Harris Administration’s announcement as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law/Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to develop a national network of electric vehicle chargers, estimated to include 500,000 charging points, to help meet the growing demand for this type of product.  Ingeteam's production capacity of electric vehicle chargers in the USA will exceed 13,000 units per year. These chargers will range from 7.5 kW to 420 kW and will be Buy America compliant under the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) requirements for domestic manufacturing and Buy America Act for funded EV chargers according to the NEVI program (National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure). Production is expected to start in the first half of 2024. The first phase is a hybrid plant combining 12 MW / 24 MWh of energy storage with 146 MW of solar generation. Ingeteam has supplied the power stations (for PV and battery storage systems), the commissioning of this equipment, the control system and the SCADA monitoring system. The largest photovoltaic complex in Latin America is powered by Ingeteam technology. With a total capacity of 1 GW, this hybrid project, located in the north of Mexico, will be completed in 2027. Then it will generate enough energy to power more than 500,000 households. Ingeteam has supplied its technology for the first phase of the project, which is already in operation. The project, which now occupies 240 hectares, will be gradually expanded to reach the 2,000 hectares planned for the next five years. This is an emblematic project for Mexico, not only because of its size, but also because it presents the additional novelty of hybridizing an energy storage system with photovoltaic generation. The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) is developing this project, the first phase of which is already in full operation. With a total investment of more than 1.6 billion euros, it is the only large-scale photovoltaic plant currently under construction in Mexico. For this first phase, Ingeteam has supplied 158 MW of power stations (12 MW / 24 MWh for the storage system and 146 MW for the photovoltaic plant), which have been supplied as a fully integrated, ready-to-install solution. The company has also supplied the PPC (power plant controller), the SCADA monitoring system and has been responsible for the commissioning work. In addition, Ingeteam has supplied the communication equipment responsible for collecting information from the substation from which the energy is evacuated, to send it to the central telecontrol stations. For José Luis González, Ingeteam's Sales Manager for the Solar PV, BESS & Green H2 sector, "this project fits in very well with our role as a technology partner, where we accompany the customer throughout all the phases of the project, providing them with a wide range of solutions in all of them". He also added that "the fact that our technology has been chosen at a time when no new photovoltaic plants are being developed in Mexico is a confirmation of our good position in the country, where we have a strong local presence".   Wed, 21 Jun 2023 13:15:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3532 https://www.ingeteam.com/br/Saladeimprensa/tabid/3372/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3530/language/pt-BR/Ingeteam-unveils-a-new-range-of-inverters-for-residential-commercial-industrial-and-large-photovoltaic-plants.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3372&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3530 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3530&PortalID=5&TabID=3372 Ingeteam unveils a new range of inverters for residential, commercial, industrial, and large photovoltaic plants https://www.ingeteam.com/br/Saladeimprensa/tabid/3372/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3530/language/pt-BR/Ingeteam-unveils-a-new-range-of-inverters-for-residential-commercial-industrial-and-large-photovoltaic-plants.aspx Consisting of several inverter models, both single-phase and three-phase, with power levels ranging from 3 kW to 350 kW and featuring multiple Maximum Power Point Trackers (MPPTs). This certification is essential to market the generators in the U.S. and Canada and to comply with the highest safety and quality standards in the wind energy sector. Ingeteam has renewed its UL certification to market its Indar wind generators in the U.S. and Canada. The company, which has held this certification since 2012, owns a factory in Milwaukee, WI from where it manufactures generators to be installed in North American wind farms. To obtain this validation, a certifying company must confirm that the generators comply with UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards, a highly valued and demanded requirement in the sector. Specifically, the generator insulation system must be validated in an external laboratory based on said standards, fixing the insulation materials and layers, with tests lasting one year, subjecting the insulation system to stress conditions that simulate the design life (the current standard in the sector being above 20-25 years). During the prototype validation process with the client, the certifying company supervises the tests on the company's test bench, in accordance with the limits of the applicable regulations. From this point on, the design of the insulation system, safety and protection distances, as well as the need for certain components with their own UL certification, are established as part of the certification. The serial-produced Indar wind generators undergo quarterly certification reviews to ensure they continue to meet the established design and validated standards. This requires that the materials and criteria are the same as those that have been validated in the laboratory and the test bench, limiting any modification. This certification makes the Indar generators meet the highest quality standards requested by the wind market. The first units will be manufactured and delivered at the end of the third quarter of 2023. Ingeteam has developed a new rectifier solution for powering electrolysers based on IGBT technology. This new product, commercially called INGECON H2 FSK E12000, has been especially designed for large-scale green hydrogen production plants. The first units will begin to be supplied in September for a project in Germany and another in Spain. The rectifier, that constitutes the central element of this solution, is based on IGBT technology with a harmonic distortion index of less than 3%, thanks to which it is not necessary to use additional harmonic filters or STATCOM units. It has a double liquid cooling circuit that guarantees maximum tightness (IP65) and the best possible performance of the electronic components, IGBTs and power phases. The INGECON H2 FSK E12000 solution has a nominal output current of 12,000 Adc, although it can reach up to 15,860 Adc maximum current, which is safely supplied to the electrolyser thanks to a pre-charge system that controls the input of energy to the electrolyser or electrolysers during their start-up. This power station features a modular design that allows to power between one and four electrolysers at the same time independently. It is normally supplied as a turnkey solution where, apart from the rectifiers (up to two units), the rest of the elements necessary for its medium voltage connection to the network are included. Furthermore, Ingeteam now has a new converter model with an extended voltage range for those electrolysers that reach 1500Vdc operating voltage. The inauguration took place in Uralla, New South Wales, and was attended by Australia's Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Bowen. The official inauguration of the first phase of what will be Australia's largest photovoltaic complex was held on Thursday, March 16. New England Solar Farm, located in New South Wales, is being developed in two phases by ACEN Renewables. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by the Australian Minister for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Bowen, and was attended by several members of the Australian media, as well as members of the ACEN Renewables Australia team, the construction company Green Light Contractors and several members of Ingeteam Australia, as the company responsible for the supply of 472 MVA through its power stations and the PPC (power plant controller) plant control system. Currently around 300 MW of solar capacity and the 33/330 kV substation have been connected, but this first phase is expected to reach 400 MW of nominal capacity in the coming months. Once both phases are completed, this solar complex will be the largest in the country with 720 MW and a 400 MWh energy storage system, which translates to a total capacity to produce 1,800,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean, renewable energy each year, enough to power more than 250,000 typical New South Wales homes. In addition, the layout of the rows of photovoltaic panels, installed on a single-axis tracking system, allows enough space for sheep to graze inside the plant.  Juan Miguel Gutiérrez, director of Ingeteam Australia, has pointed out that "the inauguration of this plant marks an important milestone in the implementation of Ingeteam in Australia as a technology partner, as well as being a giant step forward in the country's energy transition".     Thu, 23 Mar 2023 07:52:00 GMT f1397696-738c-4295-afcd-943feb885714:3501 https://www.ingeteam.com/br/Saladeimprensa/tabid/3372/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3485/language/pt-BR/Ingeteam-technology-to-power-60-locomotives-in-Poland.aspx#Comments 0 https://www.ingeteam.com/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/RssComments.aspx?TabID=3372&ModuleID=3021&ArticleID=3485 https://www.ingeteam.com:443/DesktopModules/DnnForge%20-%20NewsArticles/Tracking/Trackback.aspx?ArticleID=3485&PortalID=5&TabID=3372 Ingeteam technology to power 60 locomotives in Poland https://www.ingeteam.com/br/Saladeimprensa/tabid/3372/articleType/ArticleView/articleId/3485/language/pt-BR/Ingeteam-technology-to-power-60-locomotives-in-Poland.aspx Polish manufacturer PESA places its trust in Ingeteam once again to equip its locomotives with 120 high-power traction converters. The manufacturing process will be led by Ingeteam’s Bizkaia factory. Ingeteam’s cutting-edge rail traction technology is sought after by different European companies such as the Polish firm PESA. Ingeteam has won a new European railway traction contract for the Polish manufacturer PESA, who has once again placed its trust in the company’s own technology. Specifically, Ingeteam will equip 60 locomotives with 120 high-power traction converters, to be supplied in 2023 and 2024. The new locomotives will run in in Poland and neighbouring countries, reaching a top speed of 160 kph. The manufacturing process is set to be led by the company’s factory in Ortuella in Bizkaia province, which will take on the challenge of producing the largest volume of traction converters manufactured by the factory since it was opened in 2019. Ingeteam was also awarded a similar contract last year, to equip more than 100 of PESA’s locomotives, which will travel some 85,000 km a year. In the words of Ingeteam’s Railway & Mobility Manager, Josu Elorriaga, “We’re pleased with this new order as it once again proves that our cutting-edge rail traction technology is in demand by various European companies.” “It also shows the good partnership we have with a sector benchmark company like PESA, for both new units and fleet servicing”. The traction converter is the unit that transforms the electric power from the catenary to provide the train engines with traction and to supply other units. Ingeteam’s converters are based on its own power electronics technology and provide the vehicles with significant advantages in terms of efficiency, size and weight, optimising the power required to run the trains. Their design facilitates vehicle maintenance, with no need for specific tools. This supply includes the traction converters with their integrated auxiliary elements, the TCMS and other additional units. The company is a leader in the installation of protection and control systems for renewable energy substations in Spain. Ingeteam recently contributed to the commissioning of the Francisco Pizarro photovoltaic plant (Cáceres), the largest in Europe, which integrates 590 MW into the grid. Ingeteam technology is present in the form of automation, protection and control systems at the substations where renewable energy is evacuated, and which transform the energy from the generation plants for its transmission and distribution. The company thereby enables evacuation to the grid of more than 35% of the renewable energy generated in Spain. November 2022 data from Red Eléctrica indicates that the presence of renewable energies in the energy mix has increased to 46.9%, highlighting the importance of evacuation to the grid. Renewable energy generation in November rose by 5.6% in Spain compared to the same month in 2021, totalling 10,200 GWh. Significant renewables integration is a major challenge for the electricity system. In this respect, Ingeteam provides solutions to make the grid more intelligent and optimise its use. These include innovative technologies based on FACTS (flexible alternating current transmission systems), which provide operators with tools that enable them to quickly react to changing operating conditions, thereby providing stability and optimising existing infrastructure resources. The positive scenario for renewable energy in Spain has been one of the main foundations that have enabled Ingeteam to win numerous contracts around the world. The company currently has more than 30GW of renewable power evacuated worldwide, with installations spread over 5 continents. Notable amongst the main facilities commissioned this year is the Francisco Pizarro photovoltaic plant (Cáceres), which has managed to position itself as the largest in Europe, integrating 590 MW into the grid. Ingeteam supplied 92 power stations for this project, the scope of supply for which also includes the control and commissioning system and the protection and control system for the evacuation substation. For Jorge Haya, Director of Ingeteam's Power Grid Automation business unit, "the future will be renewable or there won’t be a future, so our challenge is to put all our electrical power conversion and control electronics technology at the service of this energy transition, of this new sustainable energy model, based on the generation of renewable energy to boost the most efficient consumption, all whilst leaving the smallest possible environmental footprint". The shipyard was built more than 100 years ago to provide repair and maintenance services to vessels transiting the Panama Canal. It has recently been purchased and refurbished to bring it back into operation. In addition, the shipyard has approximately 6,500 m2 of workshop space, which is currently being refurbished. The reactivation of the shipyard will have a direct impact on the national economy by boosting the creation of direct and indirect jobs, reactivating and strengthening the entire Panamanian maritime conglomerate. Ingeteam has supplied the main dewatering equipment for emptying docks 2 and 3 when ships come in for repairs.  In total there have been 3 pieces of equipment, one Indar HE pump for the main dewatering of the dock and two Indar BF as auxiliary pumping for the leaks in the dock. The equipment was designed ad hoc, to cover the whole range of operation required in the emptying of the dike, with a wide variation of pumping heights. In addition, they are high flow and high power submersible units for fast and controlled dike emptying, thus reducing prolonged consumption and achieving a more efficient operation. A robust solution when it comes to efficient water treatment and energy use. Thanks to our submersible technology, we eliminate the risk of flooding in the pumping room. We offer a more compact and easy-to-install solution with no vibration in operation and very low maintenance costs. We also use Duplex stainless steel as a special material to ensure durability in saline conditions. Finally, we also supply Ingeteam Variable Frequency Drives and Starters as a complete solution and integration for an efficient pumping system. The consortium Astilleros Puerto Balboa S.A. (Astibal), of the Spanish group Astilleros Canarios S.A. (Astican), was the only bidder in the tender for the shipyard, which started operations in 1916, is located at the Pacific entrance of the Panama Canal and is the only facility in Panama with three dry docks. Dock number 1 has the capacity to receive Panamax type vessels, with a length of 318 metres and a width of 33.6 metres, with a maximum draught of 7.9 metres. It is for this reason that it is considered a very important asset for the maritime industry. The other two docks have been used for repairs of smaller vessels such as tuna boats, fuel barges, tugboats and other vessels providing auxiliary maritime services, with the following dimensions: Dock 2 is 130 metres long by 25.9 metres wide with a draught of 6.4 metres. Dock 3, on the other hand, is 70 metres long by 15 metres wide with a maximum draught of 4.3 metres. In addition, the facilities include an administrative building, pump room, 6 work and storage hangars. Astibal will carry out in this shipyard all kinds of ship repairs including underwater works, surface treatment of hull and tanks, repair and maintenance of engines, electrical equipment, piping, steel, tail shafts, propellers, fitting out. We are fully committed with all our products and services with the management and efficient use of water resources to provide solutions with our advanced water engineering to achieve an efficient use of water. Always hand in hand with a team that believes in the project and that contributes its grain of sand in the energy transition in which we find ourselves to achieve a cleaner planet. The company will be fitting the latest green propulsion technology for silent running with minimal C02 emissions, so assure the conservation of marine animals. Ingeteam thus confirms the leading role in the development of components for Spanish oceanographic vessels, for which it is one of the main suppliers. Ingeteam's cutting-edge technology is to enable the immensity of the ocean floor to be observed close-up in a more sustainable fashion, thanks to the electrical equipment that the company is to supply to the Spanish Oceanographic Institute for the Odón de Buen, which is to be Spain's largest marine research vessel. This highly specialised equipment features the latest technology in green propulsion, which will enable the Odón de Buen (named after the founder of the Spanish Oceanographic Institute) to run in complete silence. This is essential for ocean observation and working with scientific echo-sounders. The vessel also has low CO2 emissions to minimise its impact on and disturbance of marine organisms. Ingeteam is currently manufacturing the Indar electric motors and Ingedrive power converters for the vessel's main and tunnel drive propulsion units. In all this means 2 motors and 6 power converters with different ratings, enabling gas emissions into the atmosphere to be reduced. The company is also to supply the propulsion control system for the vessel, which is designed to increase the efficiency of the main and auxiliary propulsion units. The technological solutions developed by Ingeteam for this vessel will help to make it possible for the first time to study marine ecosystems, habitats and the ocean floor anywhere in the world, including the areas around the poles, at depths in excess of 6000 m. The vessel is to be 85 m long and 18 in width, with a range of 50 days. There will be room on board for a 500 m2 laboratory. Its cost is close to €85 million, and construction is under way at the Astilleros Armón shipyard in Vigo. The vessel is to come into service in 2025, in a further landmark in the solid links between the two companies as they seek to lead the worldwide oceanographic market. The Odon de Buen is to have a clearly global, multi-purpose remit. It will enable projects to be diversified in areas such as marine biology, geology and fishing, to name but a few. Ingeteam is thus confirming the leading position in the design and development of innovative technological solutions for handling scientific instruments for detecting marine organisms, and in implementing silent running technologies for oceanographic vessels. The company is a pioneer in this field. It has become one of the main suppliers of components for the oceanographic vessels of the Spanish Oceanographic Institute. These components, which the Basque firm makes for low-noise motors, are fundamental in such vessels, as they emit the lowest possible level of vibrations so as to comply with specific regulations in the field and assure the preservation of the marine environment and ecosystem. Ingeteam's recent contributions to the field of marine research include a sophisticated refit of the power converters and propulsion units of the Vizconde de Eza, a long-distance vessel with a track record of over 100 campaigns. The company also fitted a dynamic positioning system that enables the vessel to hold its position and thus take more precise observations even in poor weather. At international level, Ingeteam has participated in projects such as the Norwegian vessel Dr. Fridtjof Nansen, which features an electrical propulsion system that is considerably more efficient than conventional diesel units. It is also highly reliable, as each electro motor is powered by its own converter and the layout of equipment is flexible, which facilitates maintenance and minimises environmental impact. Also stand out other vessels like REV, RV Tom Cream, RV Bélgica II, Baia Farta, CGS John Cabot, CCGS Captain Jacques Cartier, BIP Victor Angelescu, Bipo Inapesca and the RV Investigator. In short, the idea is to place cutting-edge technology at the service of the scientific community so that scientists can see (and hear) more and further, and thus continue making discoveries in the inexhaustible biodiversity that can be found in the depths of the seas and oceans around the world. This ship is South Korea’s first smart electric passenger ship. Ingeteam has been working on the project for the last year. Specifically, Ingeteam supplied and commissioned its converter Ingedrive LV400 DC Grid type, which enables a more efficient grid by reducing the number of power conversion stages and allows variable-speed generation of the gensets, thus operating at the most efficient point. As a result of this and Ingeteam’s technology, the vessel can be considered a “green ship”, increasing its added value. With a capacity of up to 375 passsengers, the ship will shortly begin service. Specifically, it will sail the "Whales Sea Travel Line" near Jangsaengpo, a port in the southern area of Ulsan, South Korea’s seventh largest city with a population of 1.1 million. With a length of 89.2 metres, a breadth of 12.8 metres, the ship will sail at a maximum speed of 16 knots. Its construction began last year at the Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in Ulsan, and it uses information and communication technologies making it a smart electric ship. The equipment supplied by the company is fully redundant in case of failure of any of the converter outputs, and it is a DC grid and can therefore serve directly as the ship’s power plant. Ingeteam’s HV IGBT is a widely used technology that has been proven during years of operation in harsh environments such as traction, marine propulsions and dredging applications. The full power converters can reach up to a 18MW rating thanks to the parallelization of two conversion lines, which provides redundancy in terms of de-rated operation under a conversion line fault. Unlike other solutions, INGECON® WIND FULL CONVERTER MV operating with HV IGBT packages does not require a double cooling system, leading to unmatched energy density. “One of the main electrical drive train topologies is based on two electrically independent connections, one per conversion line. The power converter redundancy increases turbine availability if one of the conversion line fails. This is a key advantage in the offshore market as it increases the energy yield and the return on investment.”, explains Carlos Gironés, R&D Director of Converters & Controls at Ingeteam Wind Energy. Ingeteam also offers two different generator series for full power conversion topologies. The INDAR PMG series feature generators based on Permanent Magnet Technology, which require very low maintenance and offer high reliability. The INDAR PMG series can feature a wide range of cooling systems and voltage levels. They can accommodate for direct-drive, medium-speed and high-speed machines. On the other hand, the INDAR IG series work with a coupled 3-stage gearbox by means of a flexible and insulated coupling. Next generation converters for giant offshore wind turbines Ingeteam’s full power conversion solution comes as a response to some of the most important challenges facing the offshore wind market today. Next generation converters for giant offshore wind turbines must be able to guarantee the fulfilment of the most demanding grid codes and to meet ever increasing power quality standards. They need to operate reliably in the toughest offshore environments, to facilitate maintenance needs and are generally expected to make a meaningful contribution to lowering offshore wind LCOE. “We wanted to provide our OEM customers working on next-generation offshore turbines with a power conversion solution that combines optimized cost, high efficiency, easy maintainability, and improved reliability, all combined into one rugged product. Years of R&D have led to a power conversion solution that, by parallelizing two conversion lines, can push the previous power rating boundaries at medium voltage past the 13MW limit to reach 18MW. Such a cutting-edge solution in the sector is already emerging as the new standard for future offshore wind mega turbines.”, concluded Carlos Gironés, R&D Director of Converters & Controls at Ingeteam Wind Energy. Committed to efficient water resource management and use in the entire value chain, Ingeteam has created a specific division focused on offering optimal solutions for pumping systems, energy distribution and automation of water management processes. Ingeteam, from its Water sector, offers solutions for the entire water cycle. We cover everything from deep groundwater abstraction, to abstraction for desalination plants to produce drinking water. We also provide solutions for water and wastewater management, both domestic and industrial, with pumping station applications, for example in wastewater treatment plants. Finally, and very importantly, we offer solutions for surface runoff management and flood control, a major challenge in areas vulnerable to climate change such as the Mediterranean basin. It goes without saying that for all these applications we have an after-sales service, which supports our customers and ensures the highest level of service operations 24/7. Regarding our product portfolio, we have a range of Indar submersible multistage centrifugal pumps, with a wide range of flow and head, suitable for potable water and water with low solid content. We also have Indar centrifugal volute pumps for water with a high solid load and Indar axial impeller pumps for high flow and low head applications. This portfolio also includes control systems, frequency converters and operation and maintenance services for the different applications mentioned above. Evolution of the water cycle management Water cycle management has experienced a very important development in the last forty years, especially in countries like Spain, where water resource availability and the supplied volume are irregular. The need to guarantee the water supply at an affordable cost and with a minimum environmental impact has been the driving force behind this evolution. This scenario has led to using a mix of different water sources. In addition to conventional sources, drinking water is obtained from seawater through desalination processes. On the other hand, reclaimed water is also obtained through tertiary purification processes, covering a significant portion of the purposes and demands water is used for. This implies, for each application, different water characteristics – supernatant, suspended sands, etc. – and very different pumping conditions, in more or less corrosive environments. These two reasons have been the fundamental drivers for pumping solutions to offer product designs such as hydraulic pumps and motor types with higher performance, and wire-to-water solutions, which are better suited to the new requirements of water management. This is exactly what we do at Ingeteam Water: design the product to offer our customers the best solution in terms of operability, durability and reliability, without forgetting energy efficiency, for all stages of the water cycle. The search for more efficient and environmentally friendly solutions, as well as the digitalisation in the sector, are the levers that drive current and future solutions. The importance of water in the energy transition The relationship between water and energy is intrinsic. We could say that one cannot exist without the other. On the one hand, water is an energy-generating resource in hydropower plants and can also accumulate energy, as in pumped storage hydropower facilities. Energy is also used for water withdrawal, transport, distribution, treatment and reuse for all authorised uses, such as in the industrial, domestic, agricultural, municipal, etc. sectors. Climate change and its consequences are on the agenda of all governments. Energy transition programmes impact most industries and water is not an exception. Water-based energy storage projects, taking advantage of hydroelectric generation infrastructure with reversible power generation processes and subsequent pumping, show the importance of water in the energy transition we are going through. It is a solution that allows greater flexibility when it comes to adapting the generation capacity of the system to the existing demand. It is essential to ensure efficiency in the management of the resource, especially in sensitive activities such as distribution, ensuring optimum operation of infrastructure, from water withdrawal to delivery. To achieve this objective, Ingeteam adapts the operational design of the pumping stations, adjusting the pump curve (Best Efficiency Point) to the facility as much as possible, thus avoiding hours of pumping inefficiency. Avoiding losses in the network is essential to increase the energy efficiency of the system and avoid overconsumption of energy. It is also necessary to promote water reuse after appropriate treatment processes. This entails obtaining a water resource in optimal condition, with a lower energy cost than would be the case with conventional water sources or through desalination. This practice is especially necessary for areas with water stress due to the seasonality of water demand and the unevenness of rainfall patterns. This is the case in the entire Mediterranean basin and the Spanish Mediterranean coast, with very pronounced seasonal population fluctuations and an irregular rainfall regime. Ingeteam’s Indar pumping solutions Ingeteam is the right partner for the design of pumping solutions. In this regard, the role of pump manufacturers has evolved from that of a mere product supplier to that of solution providers, accompanying our clients in their projects from the initial design phase.  Our goal is to collaborate closely with the customer, offering our extensive experience in the design of Indar pumping systems, optimizing their performance and innovating and developing our products. We aim to offer the best engineering service, according to the specifications of each project. We could give as an example our Indar permanent magnet submersible motors (PMM) filled with water and free of oils, which offer better electrical performance while caring for the environment, or Indar centrifugal pumps that provide greater operational reliability with their anti-clogging impellers. All this can be summarised in that Ingeteam, from its Water sector, offers the best support to its customers to achieve the best solution with the lowest energy consumption and operating cost throughout a product’s life cycle. Ingeteam supplied the battery containers, the power conversion systems, the control system, the commissioning of the array and the operation and maintenance services. Ingeteam was selected as a technology partner by Global Power Generation (GPG), the international generation subsidiary of the Naturgy group, to equip an electricity storage project in Australia. The 10 MW, 20 MWh capacity battery system is associated with the 109 MW Berrybank 2 wind farm in Victoria, which GPG will start operating in the coming months. The battery storage facility, located in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), will support ACT's distribution network at the Queanbeyan substation, in partnership with the region's transmission grid service provider, TransGrid. This project represents a milestone for Ingeteam, as it is the first large-scale storage project in Australia for which the company has provided a comprehensive supply. In this regard, José Antonio Unanue, Director of Ingeteam's BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) business, stated that "this project has been a real challenge for us, as it involved the comprehensive supply (power stations, battery containers, control system, etc.) for a project developed in the antipodes, in a very complicated context due to the numerous restrictions posed by the pandemic. The project could not have been completed without the essential contribution of our subsidiary in Australia. Which is why we in the BESS business are very pleased and proud to have successfully brought it to fruition". Ingeteam supplied two power conversion systems (all-in-one electricity substations integrating battery inverters, transformers, medium voltage cells, etc.), four 2.5 MW/5 MWh battery storage containers and the control system to manage the operation of the entire storage plant. Ingeteam conducted the commissioning of the plant and will also be responsible for operation and maintenance via its local subsidiary. This is the second large-scale storage project in Australia that Ingeteam is involved with and the third in Oceania. Ingeteam had previously supplied power conversion systems for projects on the continent. Global Power Generation (GPG), a joint venture between Naturgy Energy Group, SA (75%) and Kuwait Investment Authority (25%), manages a total installed capacity of more than 4 GW in 8 countries. Ingeteam’s order book is at a record high and its in-house technology development has made it a key player in the electrification of society. The anniversary event was attended by the President of the Basque Government Iñigo Urkullu, the Head of the Bizkaia Provincial Government Unai Rementeria and the Government Delegate Denis Itxaso, among other authorities. Ingeteam’s 50th anniversary celebration was held today in the Euskalduna Palace in Bilbao, with a stirring tribute to the four families who founded the company. 50 years ago a group of four engineer friends travelling home after completing post-graduate engineering studies in Germany, decided to set up a business. Despite the tough situation at the time, they founded the company TEAM in 1972, and it later merged with Ingelectric to create Ingeteam.   The foursome – Javier Madariaga, Víctor Mendiguren, Miguel Gandiaga and Alberto Belaustegui – laid the foundations for Ingeteam to become what it is today, a company with a staff of 4,100 and four Spanish production centres, in Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa, Navarra and Albacete. It also has production facilities in Milwaukee in the United States, Brazil, Mexico and India, and sales offices in 24 countries. In short, Ingeteam is a multinational operating in all 5 continents. The anniversary celebration was attended by the Ingeteam’s Chairwoman Teresa Madariaga and its CEO Adolfo Rebollo, together with the President of the Basque Government Iñigo Urkullu, the Head of the Bizkaia Provincial Government Unai Rementeria and the Government Delegate Denis Itxaso, among other authorities. The event also attracted participation from customers, suppliers and company employees. In the words of Ingeteam’s Chairwoman Teresa Madariaga, “Ingeteam will follow the path set out by its four founders, with the same effort, drive and enthusiasm as they had at the start, to continue at the forefront of technology for at least another 50 years to come”. Likewise, Ingeteam’s CEO Adolfo Rebollo said he wished to “thank the customers, institutions and all the colleagues that have been part of the Ingeteam family. To those of you who are here today and to those who are no longer with us, thank you for making it possible to celebrate Ingeteam’s 50th anniversary today. With deep convictions and innovation potential, we want to become established as leaders in renewable energy generation, in storage, smart grids and clean, efficient energy consumption. We want to gain even more recognition for changing the energy model, and we will dedicate all our efforts to that in the forthcoming years.” Over these 50 years, Ingeteam has successfully established itself at the cutting edge of technology in the sectors it works in: wind energy, solar power, electric mobility, electrical grids, green hydrogen, hydraulic generation, the naval, traction, metallurgy, water and mining industries and energy storage, among others. Technology milestones To outline some of Ingeteam’s main milestones, in 1984 the company embarked on the development of the first hydroelectric power generation regulation systems, a generation control system that would later be applied to wind energy and photovoltaic power. In the 1990s, together with the electric companies, it specialised in the turnkey supply of turbine regulation and control units and the entire automation process for hydroelectric plants. In the same decade it launched a series of subsidiary companies, firstly in Germany and later in the Czech Republic, Mexico, France, South Africa, Chile, Thailand, Panama, the Philippines, Uruguay, Morocco, the UK, Honduras, Vietnam and other countries. In 1995, Ingeteam pioneered the development of variable speed machines, a technology that has since become the gold standard of the wind energy industry. The company’s development of power electronics systems for the wind energy sector in 2000 gave rise to variants applicable to other types of renewable energy, such as photovoltaic solar power in 2001, which was just starting out at the time. In 2010 Ingeteam took its first steps in the electric mobility sector, developing electric vehicle recharging posts. The company’s focus on the electrification of society, together with its technological capacity, has enabled it to become established as one of the main players in this sector. Ingeteam began to operate in the energy storage sector in 2009 with various R&D projects. In 2014, after carrying out a series of distribution substation projects, it built the first utility-scale facility, a 9 MWh station annexed to a photovoltaic generation plant. In 2021 it launched its green hydrogen business with the aim of becoming the leading company for power electronics related to green hydrogen generation. Over its 50 years of business, Ingeteam has succeeded in securing major contracts with the world’s top companies, winning public contracts and competing with the main technologists on a global level. Its technology is used in wind farms and photovoltaic plants worldwide, on ships and cruise liners, in desalination plants, on trains, metros and trams, in biomass, hydraulic and metallurgical plants and in mines, among other areas. The company is currently implementing an ambitious strategic plan involving the recruitment of 1,000 people in the next three years, more than 100 of whom will work in the R&D area, and €210m investment, €140m of which will go to R&D so that it can continue its commitment to in-house technology. The company is a key player in the electrification of society, as can be seen from a record order book resulting from in-house technology development. Thanks to this firm commitment, Ingeteam has invested 5% of its annual turnover in R&D for several decades. Designed with the latest advances in microelectronics and communications, INGEPAC™ EFx BD acts as the central unit of busbar protection, offering a processing capacity 10 times higher than the previous series range. Busbar differential protection is based on a distributed architecture based on the IEC 61850 standard. Control and protection INGEPAC™ EF MD bay units will serve the INGEPAC™ EFx BD central unit with the information corresponding to each bay. To make this possible, it will use an Ethernet network called process bus, with IEC 61850-9-2 standardized messages called Multicast Sampled Values for the analog measurements and GOOSE type for digital signals. To ensure high availability and increase security, the units have redundant PRP/HSR communications, which guarantees that, in case of communication failure, there is no frame loss. The process bus replaces traditional copper wiring with fiber optics, increasing safety, reducing cost and facilitating system engineering and maintenance. The proposed solution protects schemes of up to 5 zones and supports 24 bays. In addition to busbar differential protection, Ingeteam showed its solutions for the energy transmission and distribution sector at the technical exhibition, with power automation systems and grid stabilization solutions based on power electronics and synchronous condensers.
