Launch of Ingeteam's laboratory of the future: Smart Automation 4.0

  • This new laboratory will incorporate the latest technologies in augmented reality, Big Data and artificial intelligence in order to digitalize and generate virtual environments for sectors such as Industry and Marine.
  • This 4.0 Advanced Automation Laboratory is located at the Technology Park of Bizkaia and is set to pioneer the development of automation and control technologies.

Ingeteam is proud to launch Smart Automation 4.0, its laboratory of the future, located at the Technology Park of Bizkaia, set to pioneer the development of automation and control technologies. This laboratory is named after Ricardo Galdiz, in tribute to a much-loved worker at the company, who recently passed away, and who was an expert and pioneer in automation and innovation.

This exclusive automation laboratory occupies a surface area of 80m² dedicated to the development and validation of advanced control systems. Here, the company will develop the latest technologies in augmented reality, Big Data and artificial intelligence in order to digitalize and generate virtual environments for sectors such as Industry and Marine. In this new space, Ingeteam will be able to physically represent the control system as it would be installed on an actual ship, yet simulating the rest of the installation. It will also make it possible to perform remote commissioning, which will lead to increased efficiency and the optimization of the time and resources dedicated to operations of this nature, which are complex and delicate.

The laboratory also features an advanced automation development area and a space reserved for the creation of digital models with a multi-sector focus, including the installation of two latest generation consoles for the simulation of system functioning and operation.

Smart Automation 4.0 offers the marine sector the possibility of developing different types of projects: ranging from conventional control systems that are to be found on all vessels, up to more specific control systems primarily directed at critical and production processes. These more specific systems are the differentiating factor and the added value that Ingeteam is providing with this space, making it possible to develop highly complex projects.

The laboratory has three key elements: Local Cloud Computing, which is executed in a cluster of ten servers in which users have no need to install anything on their personal PCs, they simply require an Internet connection to provide remote access to execute virtualized development machines, store files and process data. In this way, users have remote access to all the laboratory resources and can remotely develop and test installations and systems, while meeting the highest cybersecurity standards.

Development and validation panels that permit the rapid prototyping and assembly of installations. These serve to replicate the control systems that are subsequently installed on the vessel itself, and digital Bridge for the development and testing of critical applications, as well as advanced digitalization technologies.

With these facilities, Ingeteam is positioned at the forefront of advanced automation and simulation systems, with its laboratory exclusively dedicated to 4.0 technologies, enabling evolution towards big data, advanced digitalization and artificial intelligence.
