On October 14 the first 9150 DWT oil and chemical tanker "Morbihan" built by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group for RUBIS was successfully delivered in Jiangsu (China). Ingeteam is proud to have provided the engineering, manufacturing, commissioning and sea trials of the electrical propulsion system for this project.
The 120 m long and 21.8 m wide vessel is powered by two electrical motors, which is vertically integrated into the azimuth thruster. With a design draft of 5.8m and deadweight of 9.150 tonnes, the tanker is optimized for shallow water and river operating conditions and will mainly carry as well as industrial chemicals and clean petroleum products. The ship adopts pure electric double propulsion device, which saves fuel, realizes "green environmental protection" and has absolute economic advantages in transportation cost compared with the size of ships of the same type. Compared with the traditional ships, the motor-driven thruster greatly reduces the noise, vibration and heat, and brings a more stable, quiet and comfortable environment to the whole ship.
