Santa Barbara: Pacific Water on Tap With Indar Submersible Pumps

Indar is delighted to announce that will be supplying the new submersible pump for the screened open ocean intake. Manufactured in Duplex Material, and customized for the actual needs of the plant, this high-efficient customized motor-pump solution, for the Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant, will pump the seawater from the intake offshore in the Pacific Ocean to the desalination plant.

Starting in 2017, Santa Barbara`s  Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant produces three million gallons of drinking water per day. This is equivalent to 3,125 acre-feet of water annually or about 30 percent of the City’s demand. The City of Santa Barbara constructed their seawater desalination plant as an emergency supply in response to a severe drought that depleted the City's available water resources.
The desalination plant is an important part of the City’s water supply portfolio which also includes surface water from Cachuma and Gibraltar reservoirs, groundwater, State water, purchased water, recycled water, and conservation.

Santa Barbara`s  Charles E. Meyer Desalination Plant Desalination Plant is operated by @IDE Technologies.
