- The initiative would complete more than 450 km of emission-free route between the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community and plans to be extended to the rest of the freight corridors in the country.

The first Mediterranean Corridor for heavy road transport, 100% electric, will run through the Region of Murcia and the Valencian Community. However, the aim of this initiative includes its extension to the rest of the country's freight corridors in the coming years.
Among the main promoters of this project are Iberdrola, the transport and logistics company Disfrimur and Ingeteam. Our job as a company specialised in power electronics will be the development of charging infrastructure for the entire corridor. We will be responsible for the installation of charging points at Disfrimur's logistics bases and at other stations equipped with very high-power chargers for the intercity route.
The initiative includes two further objectives: the acquisition of 100% electric heavy trucks weighing up to 40 tons and the deployment of a smart grid in order to service the installed chargers, ensuring maximum efficiency.
The electric charging stations will initially be located at Disfrimur's logistics centres in Sangonera La Seca (Murcia) and San Isidro (Alicante). As the project progresses, new chargers will be deployed en route and at other Disfrimur logistics bases, covering the entire Benicarló (Castellón) - Puerto Lumbreras (Murcia) route. In total, there will be more than 450 km of road for the emission-free transport of goods.
Very high power chargers (up to 1 MW)
The project is also a pioneer in the development and use of very high power electric chargers, up to 1 MW, a technology that is in the process of standardisation. At Ingeteam we are developing recharging points following the future MCS (Megawatt Charging System) standard. This new protocol is aimed at fast charging (20-30 minutes) of heavy vehicles such as trucks or buses with batteries with a capacity of 200-600 KWh. In order to work properly, the charging voltage will be raised to 1,500V and current to more than 1,000A.
