Ingeteam's photovoltaic inverters have now been installed in the power supply system for the airport at Baltra, one of the Galapagos islands in Ecuador. Until now, the electricity supply to the main airport for the Ecuadorian archipelago was exclusively from two diesel generators, which generated 1200 GWh/year. The solar plant has now been operating since 13th October 2013.
Thanks to this PV system, more than 141 GWh/year of renewable solar energy is produced, thereby considerably reducing fuel consumption and achieving savings of up to 12% on fuel expenditure.
The 81 kWp PV system is equipped with 352 solar panels and three INGECON SUN 25 U Ingeteam inverters. These inverters have been specifically designed to comply with the American UL1741 regulations, are suitable for outdoor installation (NEMA 3R/IP54) and achieve a maximum efficiency of 96.1%, despite having a galvanic isolation transformer.
To date, Ingeteam has supplied more than 27.5 GW in power converters in the global market for renewable energies.
