Ingeteam Inc has supplied and commissioned 53 of its solar PV power stations for the 160 MW Rancho Seco II solar plant. This photovoltaic facility, built by Rosendin Electric for DE Shaw Renewable Investments, is the largest fixed-tilt solar plant in Sacramento County, CA. It was commissioned by the end of 2020.

“We are proud and appreciative for the opportunity to partner with Rosendin Electric to supply our fully integrated medium voltage power stations for this landmark project with DE Shaw”, said Nohra Nasr, Vice President and General Manager of Solar PV and BESS at Ingeteam Inc. “This is another milestone for Ingeteam which boasts our commitment to serve and support the solar and energy storage sector in the US and worldwide. Our proven technology and performance track record in delivering, commissioning, and servicing our product to dozens of significantly large utility-scale projects continue to feed our confidence to be ready for any challenge”.

The solar PV plant has been built on the premises of the decommissioned Rancho Seco nuclear power plant, that stopped its operations in 1989.

Ingeteam’s power station is a complete plug-and-play solution that is supplied on a turnkey basis for immediate connection on site. Each power station integrates a 3.38 MW solar inverter, a LV panel, an auxiliary services transformer and a MV padmounted transformer.

The local utility will buy the energy generated at the Rancho Seco solar PV plant through a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).

Scope of supply

  • 53 power stations fitted with all the necessary equipment to inject medium voltage power: solar PV inverter, LV/MV padmounted transformer, auxiliary services transformer and low voltage switchgear.
  • 53 units of the DUAL INGECON® SUN 1690TL U B650 photovoltaic inverters, each with a rated output power of 3.38 MW. These inverters feature 1500 Vdc technology, DC string monitoring and an AC pre-charge system for injecting up to 100% reactive power at night.
