Ingeteam has certified CIP in its INGESYS IC2 controller for a ROLEN TECHNOLOGIES project in Alstom trains

In February of this year, Ingeteam passed the certification tests of the CIP protocol (Common Industrial Protocol) integrated in its INGESYSTM IC2 controllers for a ROLEN TECHNOLOGIES project in ALSTOM trains.

These controllers have been installed in toilet modules manufactured by the ROLEN TECHNOLOGIES company.

The CIP protocol is not dependent on the physical medium and follows an object oriented producer-consumer communication model. It covers the top layers of the OSI model and offers the necessary services and profiles to control applications in real time, thereby allowing implementation of automation functions through a multi-purpose ecosystem of products.

The CIP protocol is performed over Ethernet/IP, an industrial communications protocol that adapts the CIP to the Ethernet Standard (IEEE 802.3 and TCP/IP) and is frequently used in railway applications as a communication network for train automation.
