Ingeteam at EWEA 2014: Electrical equipment and wind farm O&M services for low and medium voltage wind turbines

Ingeteam, an independent market leader specialising in power electronics, automation systems and electric machines, will exhibit at EWEA 2014 Annual Event, Europe’s premier wind energy event, taking place in Barcelona, Spain from 10-13 March.

At the event, Ingeteam will be showcasing its electrical equipment for wind turbines up to 10 MW. The display at Stand 7C40 in Hall 7 will include a power converter with key components such as a Power Stack, a Basic Power Module (BPM) and control electronics.

The components are part of the new Low and Medium Voltage converter families which are based on the semiconductor parallelization for certain power values and on the smart parallelization of several conversion lines. Both allow a complete redundant system solution. At the same time, the converter families are completely modular and offer flexible and scalable solutions for each project and different application requirements.

Control electronics will also be shown. The Converter Control Unit (CCU) is a programmable electronic device with different analog/digital outputs and input and communication channels. It manages and controls the frequency converter’s operation by regulating the power flow between the generator and the grid.

Similarly, the stand will showcase Indar Electric’s doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) for wind power application. Indar Electric is an Ingeteam company dedicated to the design and manufacturing of electric machines since 1940.

Furthermore, Ingeteam provides ongoing support throughout the entire product lifecycle, through comprehensive wind farms operation and maintenance (O&M) services, a sector in which it is becoming a worldwide reference. In Europe, the company is increasing its share in terms of MW of wind power maintained and has won major orders in Italy, Poland, France and Spain. In Latin America, it is the leading independent service provider, acting from its Service Centres in Mexico, Brazil and Chile. In total, Ingeteam has 5.4+ GW of capacity under O&M contracts.

Overall, Ingeteam has 18 years of experience in the wind industry and is committed to innovation and development of full in-house technology. In 2013, R&D expenditure accounted for 10% of net sales. To date, the company has supplied 24 GW of installed wind power capacity worldwide, confirming its position as a global market leader in wind turbine electrical conversion equipmen
