Ingeteam supplies more than 100 protection, control and measurement boards for the Mexican utility CFE

Ingeteam has designed, assembled and wired more than 100 protection, control and measurement boards for the Mexican utility Comisión Federal de Electricidad (CFE), reaffirming its position as one of the main providers of protection and control solutions in Mexico.

This important contract is the largest project supplied by Ingeteam Power Grid Automation in history under a single contract/order, and was awarded at the beginning of the year through public tender.

The panels will be used to repower the distribution and sub-transmission network of various transmission and distribution divisions, at various voltage levels up to 161 kV.

The supply consists of 275 protection and control relays distributed in 103 cabinets with the following configuration:

  • 15 line protection panels
  • 28 transformer protection panels
  • 4 capacitor bank panels
  • 2 tie breaker panels
  • 54 feeder panels

Each panel offers a complete protection and control scheme based on the IEC 61850 INGEPAC™ EF and INGEPAC™ DA PT product range. Among the main features they offer are its modular design, a fully programmable user interface, logic capacity under the IEC 61131 standard and communications features that allow total and secure interaction with the equipment, both locally and remotely via Internet.

The equipment has a large sampling rate and a measurement class 0.2, which allow to implement the protection functions and data acquisition and analysis with the highest precision and reliability.

All equipment meets the highest standards on the market and has been tested and certified by the Laboratory of Equipment and Materials Testing (LAPEM), as required by the CFE for all its supplies.

This new success has been possible thanks to the effort, knowledge and involvement of all the staff of the Mexico office, as well as our partners and the rest of the supply chain. This has allowed us to continue the growth path that we have been developing for a few years in Mexico, where the growth of the technical area has been accompanying business development and where, thanks to both, we have grown to become one of the most relevant players in the market.
