The power demanded to power-electronics-based solutions is on highly increase. Due to this fact, Medium Voltage converter topologies are of high interest, thanks to their good power quality and efficiency. However, the low switching frequency ratio presented by these converters arises some challenges. 

Low switching modulation techniques are a key factor. In the paper “Three-Level Polynomial Pulse Width Modulation”, presented in the conference IECON 2020 (46th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society), Alain Sanchez-Ruiz presents a modulation solution for low switching frequency power converters. As a result of this technique, the combination of Medium Voltage power converters reaches a better power quality than actual solutions.
