Ingeteam supplies its PV inverters to Cornell University, NY

Ingeteam Inc, a leading solar inverter manufacturer, recently supplied its latest INGECON SUN Power Station U 1.76 MW to Cornell University’s Solar Farm in Ithaca, NY. This university benefited from the NY-Sun Initiative directed at encouraging companies to invest in renewable energy projects in New York State.

For this project, sponsored by Building Energy and developed by Distributed Sun, the university received support from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and ABM to launch Cornell’s first large-scale solar farm.

This scheme will also serve an educational purpose. A section of the plant is assigned to academic use. Students have access to 10 of the 6,778 PV panels and to the energy production data provided by the INGECON SUN PV inverters, through the monitoring software supplied by Ingeteam.

The 2 MWp PV plant will generate an average of more than 2.39 million kWh per year, the equivalent energy required to power around 320 homes for one year, providing Cornell University with low-cost energy rates over the 30-year agreement. Furthermore, the PV array is expected to reduce the university’s annual GHG (Greenhouse Gas) emissions by 625 metric tons per year.

About the PV inverters

The INGECON SUN Power Station U is a compact, fully customizable MV solution with up to 1.76 MW. It comprises two, 880 kW PV inverters manufactured by Ingeteam, a step up transformer, switchgear, low voltage distribution panels, auxiliary transformers and monitoring equipment. It is delivered fully equipped for “plug and play” installation on site. These inverters are manufactured at Ingeteam’s production facility in Milwaukee, WI.

With more than 4 GW of solar PV inverters supplied worldwide, Ingeteam has developed the new INGECON SUN PowerMax U inverters specifically for the North American market, in compliance with UL 1741. These inverters feature max efficiencies of 98.6%, 1,000 Vdc, NEMA 3R protection ratings, DC and AC disconnects, and are available with output power of up to 1,070 kW.

Ingeteam will be present at Solar Power International 2014. Booth #1066.

Once again, Ingeteam will be present at SPI. The trade fair, taking place in Las Vegas from the 21st to the 23rd October, is to showcase Ingeteam’s new PV inverters for the North American market.

The new UL 1741 compliant INGECON SUN string inverters will be on show at booth #1066. These PV inverters, under the INGECON SUN 1Play and INGECON SUN 3Play brands, feature a dual MPPT input, an easy rooftop installation system, 98.5% maximum efficiency level, AFCI solutions, firmware updating through an SD memory card and many more features.

Visitors to the stand will also have the chance to learn more about Ingeteam’s forthcoming innovations regarding ARRA compliant central inverters for the North American market.
