Ingeteam collaborates with the University of British Columbia in a study for the mining sector

Ingeteam is collaborating in a research and development project with the University of the British Columbia (UBC) in the field of improving the efficiency of ball mills using variable speed.

The preliminary results of this project have been successfully presented to the major engineering businesses in Vancouver specialising in the field of mineral processing. These companies include HATCH, FLOUR, AMEC - FW, AUSENCO and TETRA TECH.

The operation took place in two different mines, situated in British Colombia, Canada. In the first part of the project, a significantly large quantity of minerals was collected and in the second part, the mineral samples were studied at UBC premises. With the results, the UBC team could develop models and simulations which show the benefits obtained by using speed converters, both in relation to performance and to specific energy. INGEDRIVE™ speed converters include this knowhow for improving efficiency in the mineral processing industry.
