Ingeteam installed in February a machine of collection of domestic oil in its plant of Albacete, thus participating in an awareness campaign and recycling of oil. The workers who wanted to participate and join the campaign have obtained an incentive of € 2 for every 5 liters of recycled oil. In addition, the recycling of collected domestic oil has prevented the emission of almost 200 kg of CO2.
Ingeteam, in collaboration with the Science and Technology Park and the company Yotta Desarrollos Tecnológicos, installed last February a machine for collecting domestic oil at its facilities in Albacete. Thanks to this collaboration, Recicla y Gana, the driving force behind this project, has collected a total of 150 litres of domestic oil. The recycling of this oil has prevented the contamination of 150,000 litres of water and the emission into the atmosphere of almost 200 kg of CO2.
In this way, Ingeteam, faithful to its commitment to the environment, has wanted to be part of this awareness and recycling campaign. In addition, workers who voluntarily wanted to participate and join the campaign have received an incentive of 2 euros per 5 litres of recycled oil. Thus, each participant has achieved an average of approximately 60 euros.
Each litre of domestic oil can contaminate 1,000 litres of water and emit 1.32 kg of CO2 to the atmosphere, so the installation of machines for its collection is key to being able to recycle it. An Envirobank recycling machine has been installed at the Ingeteam facility, which aims to motivate the public, through an economic incentive, to become involved in the recycling of this type of waste that is more difficult to manage, producing a high degree pollution and generate high CO2 emissions, directly or indirectly.
Today, the global strategy to reduce CO2 and greenhouse gas emissions is being based on laws that support the circular economy with the reuse of products, thus reducing the consumption of new natural resources to the maximum and reducing CO2 emissions. In the case of used vegetable oil, it is used to obtain environmentally friendly biofuels.
Pioneers in sustainability
Ingeteam's policy of sustainability and respect for the environment also encompasses a number of actions that the company has implemented in recent years with the aim of giving back to society a part of its contribution.
In the year 2016, Ingeteam became the first Spanish company to encourage its employees to go to work by bicycle. Ingeteam workers receive one euro each day they go to work by bike. Since the beginning of the campaign, more than 12,000 kg of CO2 have been avoided in the atmosphere. Thanks to the initiative, the number of employees who use the bicycle as a means of transport to work has experienced significant growth, increasing from 5 to 45 people enrolled in the activity.
For the second consecutive year, Ingeteam sponsors the BTT team Ingeteam-Rumbo, the current runner-up of the circuit, which involves a dozen employees of the company. On the other hand, the company also has a sustainable messaging service, through the company of cycling Urban Cycle, which is in charge of performing the internal messaging services of Ingeteam, from the central offices, located in the Science Park , to its logistics center, in the Campollano Polygon.
